Pirates?

Post by Spongey »

Anyone know if LEGO is continuing any form of pirates theme now or in the near future. I've always loved pirates, and its a shame that it's been nearly ten years since they've had a pirate set. (I don't count 4+ as pirates  )
Much appreaciated if you know anything.

Hmm, I dont know. If they did, that would be great. I need a ship right now too.

In truth there were two ships re released and a islander set in 2001 or 2002. One was the Armada flagship, and the other was something with red beard. The islander set was something with enchanted... That is the closest time when pirates were released.

Man I really wish they would re-release the pirate sets. I could also use a few pirate ships.

Heh heh heh... as Josh mentioned, I was going to point to the DUPLO sets for your modern pirate needs. :P

I actually looked at the DUPLO pirates as a sort of inspiration when they first came out. Afterall, the newer, cool DUPLO castle sets came out before Castle system really got going...

Alas, it looks like system pirates never really came to be. :?

Heh seeing the way lego is making such great sets now, I would put my money (ok just a little bit) that system pirates will be re-introduced in the next couple of years :)

too bad I'm not that big a fan of pirates, but then again I never own a pirate ship; only fort el dorado. :)

You own fort El Dorado and not a fan of Pirates? Shame on you :). Something tells me that they'll be releasing Pirates sooner or later. LEGO knows what we want and they are giving it to us bit by bit. First is the new castle line, maybe the second thing will be pirates, who knows?

I am moving this thread to Dear LEGO. Fans such as myself certainly want Pirates to return. Oh, and I also like the Imperial soldiers better than the pirates ;)

Don't forget they re-released the Black Seas Barracuda for the Legends theme. Chances are if they continue with the Legends theme you'll see more of your old favorites re-released. I love pirates too. It'd be cool to see more of 'em. My first huge lego set ever was the Black Seas Barracuda *sniffle*

BSB was the first lego set I bought in ~10, years 6 months ago, as reward to myself for successfully finishing an internship. The pirates were great and I think I owned all the small sets released in the 80s/early 90s. Loved them very much. I'd love to see them back as long as a spark of the classic pirate spirit remains: I'd hate to see robotic timetravelling flying dutchmen or whatever as an excuse for a new pirate line.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, LORD DOOM, but someone has to do the dirty work. The Legend series has been laid to rest.
