On this day in 1932 Ole Kirk Christiansen, a Danish Carpenter, founded LEGO in the small village of Billund. We would like to thank all of the employees of the LEGO Group and the Christiansen family for creating the toys that we love. Congratulations on 75 years in business!

Check out the LEGO press release here:

“I feel an immense sense of pleasure and pride when I meet children and adults who enjoy our products. Throughout its 75-year history the LEGO Group has been through difficult and good times – fortunately much more good than difficult! This has been possible only because we have been blessed with – and still have – an incredibly committed team of employees. They have helped to keep alive the fundamental principles on which my grandfather set up the company. So I’m confident that we can look forward to the next 75 years,” says Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen.

I am very thankful to everyone that has had to do with LEGO for making it suck an excellent product. Thanks! Here's to at least the next 75 years, and the next, and the next!

When I first went to the home page and saw the different coloring, the vivid and disturbing picture of the classic-clickets came into my mind . But then I saw it was 75 years to the day, almost, not quite, aw well just a few hours. I didn't know it's been that long. I was thinking somewhere around low 60's.

Hob Took, joining the chear to the next 75 years!

Old kirk had a good reputation, "only the best id good enough" his company had kept those words to heart ever since when his company opened in 1932. Congratulations lego for keeping generations happy!

Wow... that is a milestone. I wonder if they will have some sort of extravaganza for 100?

Either way, 75 and global is a grand thing indeed... to further success! May clones and competitors burn in a pit of cheap plastic!

75 years, wow! It seems like only yesterday ...

Being 190 myself, it's good to see a young company thriving in this difficult economy and trying to maintain the standards and practices consistant with their origins.

Here's to our next 75, may they be as sweet :)

Wow - 75 years, huh? You know, the reintroduction of the entire castle product line of 1984-1989 would go a long way toward ensuring another 75 years...

Happy Birthday!
