TTfigs: minifigs with moving brickbuilt legs

Post by Tanotrooper »

I think this particular design hasn't been pulled off yet, so I will use this name for these kind of figures:

Image

As I use brickbuilt legs, the problem was they couldn't move. Even the shoes couldn't turn a bit. I now improved this by making the legs move. This type is the adult male first version, and any updates to this design will be other versions.

back shot:

Image

A standard modern lego torso is used, in wich a minifig hand can be inserted in 3 points in the middle of the torso. The legs are held by a "T" bar, and because they go a lot forward, the hand is placed at the back of the torso:

Make sure the minifig hand is as close to the bar as it can:

Image

Thanks to the minifigs hand design, the hand will force the bar upwards in the front, making it pretty sealed with the torso. The bar can also serve as a belt decoration.

Thanks to this, a minifig can go Kung Fu like:

Image

He can march:

And can walk extreme :P :

Image

The result is a highly flexible minifig, in wich a lot of detail like boots can be put in. The torso can also can also move sideways, and the minifig is able to take lifelike bending forward poses.

Feel free to comment or use the design :D

Really cool!
Though I don't think I would use it for a normal fig, this would be great for a cyborg with robotic legs!
I might just use this design sometime... Thanks for sharing!

Too bad the "tail" can't fit into the torso. That would upgrade this from 'really cool' to 'absolutely excellent'!

Well done, Tanotrooper, on thinking outside the box!

I'm thinking of ideas to attach for example gear on the "tail", to give it a pratical use :D

Thanks for the comments :)

Great piece usages, Tano! These look great, though as has been said before, I'm not sure how I like it for everyday figs, but I can think of a ton of great uses for it already.

Very nice work!

Hmm.. I like it! :)

I'm not really one for brick-built legs on figs, but it would be great for a cyborg/robot figure as Dr. J has suggested.
I think I'll have to 'steal' your design for use in future vigs, it has a lot of potential.

Of course, the customizer in me makes me want to take and cut a lightsaber bar down to size and put the hand in the center, to remove the tail.

..Though that would probably result in a slight curvature of the 'spine'.

Excellent design.

You can find if almost in every Viking Set ;)

Really nice work Tanotrooper! Eventhough I wouldn't use this for normal figs, this style might make great Starcraft Marines :).

It's a man right? I think the "tail" is on the wrong side.

Thanks for the comments :D

the lightsaber bar won't work with the hand, because of the design of it. I tried it with a hook piece, but that leaves a big gap open between the torso and the "legs"...

Have you seen Mike Crowley's BrickFa? It may be another means to your goal.

Sadly in this way there is a very hard burden upon the levers, and they don't need much to bend or snap.

update :D

any Medieval figs will be placed in Castle MOCs.

Here we have a French cuirassier from the Napoleonic Wars:

I could finally make it this year, thanks to the knight impulse set and the rebel attack speeder. It took me long to find the right combination for the legs, but it looks great! :D

Comments and constructive critisism are appreciated.

*update*

an English bobbie:

from the Napoleonic wars, an officer of the British rifles. The officers wore jackets over their left arm, wich is represented here. The British rifles were the elite light infantry and were armed with rifles rather than muskets:
