Hey all,

The votes are in and tallied. No hanging chads. It was very close, but the A's have it:

Aaron Andrews (DARKspawn)
Anthony Sava (SavatheAggie)
Andrew Becraft (Dunechaser)

The nominees have to now put together their material:
* Name and age of the nominee.
* Where is the nominee from?
* Which Group does this nominee represent?
* Does this person consent to being nominated (Please do not submit a nomination on behalf of someone you have not discussed with beforehand).
* Explanation of who the nominees are, what their activities are, and why they would be a good representative of their community (at least 3 testimonials from members of nominating group are required)
* Key interests of the nominee (themes, building styles, and some examples of their building)

Nominees, please put together the information above and make sure you have three testimonials. Everyone else, feel free to step forward in this thread if you wish to write one. Also be aware that you may be contacted by one or more of the nominees.

Also, we have a deadline: May 24, 2008 by midnight GMT. If a nomination is received after this time it will be automatically rejected.

So put this together in the next couple of days.

Ben - do we submit this to LEGO on behalf of CC, or do we just give them the names and the nominees submit their material separately?

I believe that Classic-Castle will submit the applications to LEGO. The nominees should email their applications (in a word file format) to me so they can be sent to LEGO.

Great news.

Thanks to everyone who has nominated and voted for me so far, I think we have chosen 3 great representatives for the community. I would also like to thank Ben for all the work he has done behind the scenes both as an LA & as an influential member of the community as a whole. Honestly, if he hadn't declined nomination there would be no doubt who the CC rep would be, & deservidly so.

Still we have a ways to go yet. Each nominee still requires at least 3 testamonials from community members (see Bruce's post above) so be generous with your time, my friends, & I'll get cracking on mine ASAP ;)

Thanks again
:)

Thank you Aaron. I am sure the new Castle LA's will work very hard to pass along our thoughts to LEGO. We want pitchforks! ;)

Good luck to each of CC's nominees. I hope that several, if not all, of you are selected to help represent CC.

Hey,

To the three nominees, I've sent you each testimonials from me by pm or e-mail.

To all others, remember they need at least three testimonials from CC members. Let LEGO know why we support our three A's.

I have a question since this is a bit unclear to me right now.
Do we PM the testimonials to the nominees themselves, or post them here in this topic?

Thank you all for your vote of confidence. I am honored and humbled. I hope I will live up to your expectations if I am chosen to represent Classic-Castle.

Unfortunately I must regrettably report I only have the one testimonial from Bruce. If two more would please step forward, I would appreciate it.

I am in a similar situation, however I will certainly send one to you Tony, I have also been contacted & asked exactly what to write, so I'd like to give an example of one I wrote for Andrew (Dunechaser), at least it will give people an idea of how to continue. FYI I had already prepared this one in advance for Flickr & TBB, it's only slightly modified for CC ;)
Andrew has made his mark on the LEGO fan base both in person and offline by doing what he does best, building community. Through his efforts on the popular The Brother's Brick blog he has continually strived to unite the diverging interests of the online community in one place for all fans of LEGO to enjoy.

Andrew is a long term member of the Classic-Castle website and a frequent contributor to discussions. He often highlights Castle themed creations on The Brothers Brick website, promoting the castle theme and bringing it to a larger audience.

Andrew is also reknown for his love of the minifig and has become one of the most notable builders who specialise in just building minifigs. His involvement within the community is very broad, being an active staff member of the Builders Lounge group and a member of the Classic Castle website, amongst others. Andrew is also a member of his local LUG and has attended events and displayed his work many times in public.

Andrew has a friendly and positive attitude and works hard to promote the hobby. Andrew has already proven himself to be a fantastic LEGO Ambassador, he has my full support.
It really doesn't need to be this long, I just have a lot to say ;) 1 or 2 paragraphs is fine :)

Hope this helps

Aaron Andrews

Aaron was one of the first AFOLs I ‘met’ in the online community. He welcomed me warmly and offered me many suggestions on new methods to try in order to improve my building skills. And from reading his reviews of other people’s works – this encouraging and positive attitude is consistent.

As far as a builder goes: Aaron is one of the best. I always look forward to seeing what he will come up with next, and am amazed at how he utilizes different elements. And although he builds extremely well in whichever genre he chooses, it is his castle themed builds that I most look forward to seeing. I have to admit that I have a folder on my computer which contains the pictures of all his castle-themed creations, which I then use as a personal study guide in building techniques.

Aaron has won many contests in the online community, and is deserving of them all. I don’t know them all because this isn’t something that is important to me. What is most important is how someone behaves towards others, and for that I would say Mr. Andrews is worthy of the term ‘gentleman’.

I fully endorse Aaron’s efforts to become an Ambassador; an interface between the fans of Lego and the company proper.

I'm honored and humbled that C-C members would nominate me to represent C-C in the next cycle! C-C has a strong field of nominees, and I'm hopeful that we'll end up with several LEGO Ambassadors, as we have in the past.

On to my own testimonials (Aaron posted mine publicly, so I thought I'd return the favor):

Aaron Andrews
I first took notice of Aaron "DARKSpawn" Andrews' building skills nearly a year and a half ago, beginning as a very active member of Classic-Castle.com and then branching into themes such as mecha and microscale. Since then, I've gotten to know Aaron better on Flickr and Builders Lounge, and today I admire him as much for his positive outlook and communication skills as for his continued success as a builder.

Through his ceaseless succession of excellent creations (winning just about every Classic-Castle contest he enters, it seems), Aaron has rightfully earned a reputation as one of the best builders in the world -- Castle or otherwise. It's no surprise that he's been nominated from three separate LEGO fan communities on the Web.

Between his willingness to participate fully in the various communities to which he belongs (both online and offline) and his stellar building skills, I believe Aaron would make an excellent LEGO Ambassador. To that end, Aaron has my highest recommendation.

Anthony Sava
Without Anthony Sava, there would be no Classic-Castle LEGO fan community. His tireless leadership of Castle fans has resulted in one of the most active, well-run LEGO communities on the Web. It's true that Tony isn't the only Admin on Classic-Castle.com, but I believe he represents the heart of the Admin team.

Not content to rest on the glory of his monumental Castle building skills, Tony also rides the rails of Train building, displaying his creations at various events and on Flickr.

I can't imagine Classic-Castle.com without Anthony Sava, and therefore I believe he's ideally suited to represent this community as a LEGO Ambassador.

Anthony Sava

Tony is a great contribute to all who love LEGO. Not only are his castles something that is always worthy of mention when you are to inquire about good castles. His Ulmaris, as an example, is the best castle I have ever seen. Tony's building and imaginative skills even go beyond castle, as he is one of the best train builders I have ever seen.

More important though, is his always fun but ready to work spirit, never being less than perfectly polite to everyone that meets him. He is one of the founding members of this forum, Classic-Castle, that is one of the best forums you can ever find in the Internet. He is a great admin, always concerned about what is best for the forum, and has a fun spirit and hilarious April fools jokes. He is the perfect representation of all that Classic-Castle and the AFOLs stand for, and when he sets out to do something, he never quits.

I cannot imagine what this forum, and even LEGO itself, would be like withouth this fine AFOL.
