Re: Harold, The Traveling Castle Fig
Very cool! Will he have the chance to visit the Acropolis?
Also, DNL, do you have additional photos? I'm updating the 'travels of Harold' page.
Also (last one), Scnicker, did you ever post photos? I don't see them in your Brickshelf or DeviantArt pages. I do hope we have some pics of Harold out and about in Istanbul.
Hmm, he's been to Istanbul and is now in Athens. Do we have any members in Rome for Harold to visit?

Harold is an excellent excuse for me to go for a photo-session in town (too many distractions the last months), so yes he'll have a tourBruce N H wrote:Very cool! Will he have the chance to visit the Acropolis?

The weather will be rainy this weekend, I'll probably have to postpone it for the end of the next week (I have some free working days too, so it's sure that we'll find a good day). In this way, we have some time to find someone in Italy!
Re: Harold, The Traveling Castle Fig
Hello! I'll upload my photos soon. I can send Harold to his next rendez-vous next week.
Should I send him to Remyth (#15) or have we found someone in Italy, or somewhere near by? BTW why not send him to jens at Germany (#16) so that we save the Atlantic trip?

Harold visits the Acropolis:
,
,
the Arch of Hadrian:
street art
and Athens from a hill:
I think I broke Harold beyond repair, I showed him emacs and he liked it
Harold with his accessories (I gave him sth to eat during his trip)
and with other minifigs wishing him a good journey!
The day I went shooting was a quite cloudy, so I wish could keep Harold more and take more pics - he 's very challenging and interesting to shoot! The brickshelf folder is here.
I describe how I took the pictures of Harold in this thread.

Those are some super-cool pictures.
I wonder if there is a way to get similar pictures without resort to photo-editing. I've never been able to edit photos well.

Just because I think this is funny and Josh posted about the Castle display @ BrickCon.

- 3 months.
- Harold is approximately half-way down the list.

Re: Harold, The Traveling Castle Fig
In the HowTo thread I posted a Youtube video that shows the process. Maybe it can help a bitAthos wrote: I wonder if there is a way to get similar pictures without resort to photo-editing. I've never been able to edit photos well.
Also keep in mind that since the lighting in both photos is the same (and the original) and the blurred background of the minifig and the landscape is the same, the editing is much easier and the final result looks natural. Good pre-production preparation can make your life easier in post-production. On the other hand, compact cameras often don't have manual settings. This means that the light measurements in the two photos might differ a bit causing small light differences between the two photos - the more you go in night scenes the more you'll probably notice this.
I am not a photograph-guru, someone else might be more appropriate to give a final answer, but I think it's hard* to find a lens that can focus on an object 40cm away from the lens and show sharp and clear a landscape that's 200m away. With an object 5-8m away and a landscape 200m away, it works fine - you can even do it with compact cameras.
*hard or not possible with a lens that costs less than 300 euro

Woah. At this rate, I might ACTULLY be able to take him to BrickCon this year!
...maybe. That was the goal two years ago, too.

He did make it to BrickCon two years ago, didn't he? Dan brought him. Although maybe I'm mixing up the years....plums_deify wrote:Woah. At this rate, I might ACTULLY be able to take him to BrickCon this year!

Re: Harold, The Traveling Castle Fig
I think he did make it, but the plan originally was for me to bring him. Which is fine. Or it might have been a doppleganger? We've had those too.
I'd have to look at the past photoshoot photos to be sure, though...

I see. Yeah, Dan brought the real one. Our Henry is a doppelganger, but Harold was the real deal.plums_deify wrote:I think he did make it, but the plan originally was for me to bring him. Which is fine. Or it might have been a doppleganger? We've had those too.

Re: Harold, The Traveling Castle Fig
I might be interested in hosting Harold's presence in my village sometime in the future. He can stay in my inn, assuming it will be finished by his arrival.
