What rooms should my keep have in it?

Post by Mr. D »

I've recently been planning a castle (the keep specifically) and I'm wondering what rooms should the keep have in it? There will be a wall that goes around it (and is part of it, in some places), so I can put stuff like a barracks in side that. Here's what I have in mind already: Banquet hall, kitchen, bedrooms for the lord and lady, and their family, private chambers for them, servant's quarters, gardrobe. Would there be such things as a weapons closet in the keep of a castle? I just don't know much about what they historically had in them. Thanks in advance for help and any other tips.

That's what an armoury is. You also could put a bakery, poleturners workshop, blacksmith's shop, killing pits, oil vat, pitch diches, and stables

how about.....
housing or bedding for soldiers
A celler for wine+brews
A blacksmith (for armour+weapons)
A blacksmith (For horse shoes and horse helms)
A training range (Full of dummies, targets for archery, etc)
and that's all my ideas at the moment.
