pardon my lack of knowlage, but what is a 1x?x5?

I use them whenever i can. IMO, a pile of 5 equivalent bricks is pointless. It's a bit like math... if the equation says 1+1+1+1+1 somewhere, you'd also just simplify and make that 5... And I don't see why one'd rebuild something that's already there anyway.
They are the tall versions of the 1x2 and the 1x1 brick, the pillar things.Barbapple wrote:pardon my lack of knowlage, but what is a 1x?x5?
Whatever you do, don't.
To further answer your question, Barbapple, please look at this picture:

This is a 1 x 2 x 5. It's one dot wide, two dots long and 5 bricks high.

The 5 high bricks, like most other pieces, have their uses. A column of 2 of the 1x1x5 bricks would be much more stable then a column 10 1 x 1 bricks.
And 1 x 6 x 5 bricks are great for quickly building CCC compliant walls.

I try to not ever use them for normal building, but I use them for supports all the time. For example under here the wall is held up at the back by them, and the raised green area inside the walls (Sorry it isn't visible) it lined around two edges with black 1x2x5's, and many areas in the center are supported by them.

I like using them, they're very useful as support columns on some of my MOCs. Anything from buildings to ships, to siege machines.

They're great for making colonades inside the walls. I usually make my walls one stud thick with a row of columns and arches just inside to hold up the walkway. That way I can get the appearance of thick walls without using a ton of bricks. The 1x?x5 bricks are perfect for that, more stable than a stack of 1x2 bricks.
