Looks ok. Perhaps it needs a bit more story working, but looks great. As for the effects, don't let it bother you, I couoldn't do any better.

Looks good.

Personally though, I don't think that Paint is so bad. We have Photoshop, MS PictureIt, ACDSee, and a couple other programs on our computer, but I tend to use Paint quite a bit all the same.

Really, I think its just a matter on knowing what you are doing.

Of course, having those other programs is always a big help.

yeah I've heard that photoshop is hard to learn, tricky to use, but very rewarding in the end.
