Vintage Minifigure Collection Volume 4

Post by thedevil44 »

I don't know if anyone has noticed that over on EB they have pictures of the new vintage minifigure collection. It has a forrestman figure and a classic castle soldier from 1978. This may be the best volume yet.

Woo-hoo! This is the best one yet. They've got Ben:

BTW, they're certainly obsessed with the classic smiley spaceman, aren't they? Each of these vintage fig sets has included one in a different color. We've only got black to go.

I am really excited about this new Minifigure Collection. Thank you to the LEGO employees who made this happen! I will be purchasing multiple copies of volume four.

The Classic-Castle figure was in set 0016 ( http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/0016.html ). However, this set was released in 1979 and not 1978. Of all previous minifigure collection figures, this knight is the most valuable (at least $12 USD used). The bley flared helm has been sold on bricklink (via LEGOLAND theme park surplus) but this is the first time it has been in a set.

I am also excited to see the Blacktron 1 figure for the space fans. Santa is a bit of a common figure, but many people will like him as well.

I find it interesting that one of the most common forestman torsos was chosen. Still, it is great to see this figure, the forestman cap for the first time since 1997, and the small plume for the first time since 2003's last castle accessory pack ( http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/10066.html ). The use of this plume brings up more questions. Are old plumes back? Did TLG have a surplus of red plumes to use in these sets? Hopefully plumes will return in a variety of sizes and colors.

If you want to create an army of Bens it's very important that there's a folicle on the hair sample you take.....

This is so great, the blue spaceman is my favorite one! Oh, yeah, the castle figs are OK too. ;)

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Thanks for explaining this castle vintage minifig. I was wondering where did it come from. At first, I thought it came from the Yellow Castle, but I made a check and realised it was not from there, but from a minifigure pack. Such a rare minifig appear in this upcoming volume sure surprised many castle collectors. However, I do wonder if the minifigs in there will have slight variations or not.

I am glad that moc the admins will happen before everyone and their brother can make my figure. Better luck next year :D

They do. Please see Jojo's recent thread regarding quality of these minifigures: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17650

Fig arms have a recessed stamp on the inside of the arm. Since LEGO has not been attaching heads to torsos with machines, the new torso will not have white printed on the neck ( http://www.bricklink.com/PL/973px45c01.jpg ). In addition, the inside of the torso will be a more modern version and the helmet is bley and not light grey.

Yeah, I had to resort to this fig when creating a group photo for the admins a while back:

Man, whoever picks out these figures must love the spacemen. 6 in 4 packs...

Though its nice to see the old-school castleman. I'm curious what the appearance of the forestman's plume bodes...

I also wonder why this discussion is considered kosher, since the pictures are technically a leak...?

The image seems to have been taken directly from LEGO.com as usual. Little to no effort by the SAH web designers has been made over the last decade to prevent this from happening. This type of leak could easily be prevented if they were more careful about file management.

But since this vintage minifigure collection is a re-release of past LEGO figures, I highly doubt that this "leak" would benefit the competition. Clone companies would have a giant lawsuit on their hands for copying Lego figure designs when the patent has not yet expired.

Oh, very nice. It's great to see more castle, and especially that forestman in there. I love that we're getting the forestmen hat again. The plume makes me curious, though. Are they producing the plume independently of the plume wheel for this set, or are there thousands of unused large and tri plumes sitting in a factory in China somewhere?

Will have to buy at least 2 of these, one to hang on the wall, and (at least) one to open...

Woah, this is a nice one. I reeeeeaaaaaallly can't wait for this one to come out, mainly because of the Blacktron dude! And two Castle guys! And another space guy Oh, and the Santa.

You are incorrect there. The one with the white dude also had the black dude.
