As some of us already probably know Toys "R" Us has a special event every October called Bricktober. I just got the Lego Club magazine for September-October and on the inside of the back flap of the magazine it has some info on this year's Bricktober. Unfortunately it is rather limited, here is what it says.
"October isn't just another month at your local Toys "R" Us- it's Bricktober, a whole 31 days dedicated to LEGO fun!
Don't miss these exciting events, part of Bricktober 2011:
Visit you local Toys "R" Us store on October 15th for an exclusive building event!
On October 29th master the skills and strategy you need to win at the new LEGO HEROICA Games with a fun Demo!*
*At participating locations. check your local store for details.
Collect Four Retro LIMITED EDITION Lego Minifigure Magnets!
Here's some more Bricktober excitement! During the month of October, you can collect four retro LIMITED EDITION LEGO Minifigure Magnets, one each week. Check your local Toys "R" Us for more details. Here is the minifigure lineup: Week 1.

Week 2.

Week 3.

Week 4.

I think it is pretty exciting, the only problem is, how do you get them? I don't have a Toys "R" Us nearby so I can't check, the other question I have is, can you take the guys off the magnets? It kind of looks like you can in the picture. If anyone knows the answers to these questions I would be quite grateful.
Either way October looks like an exciting month for LEGO fans.

This looks awesome. Can't wait, and I have plenty of sets over at TRU that I'd like to buy toward this promotion.
If they are like the last ones, they'll be regular collectible minifigures that can be disassembled and the bases are bricks with an enclosed magnet that they can click onto. There will be one per week and they will be available through ToysRUs.Com just like last year.

Did you have to buy a certain amount of Legos and then you get one free or could you buy them separate? Glad to hear they are real figs, I'm going to try to get a couple,(forestmen, and knight).

They are free with purchase at TRU, the details of the required purchase tie-in are not yet available, but it will not be hard
as it is designed for kids. They do not allow them to be purchased separately as they are a limited run production promotion and each week unlocks a new character of the four. They do not seem to limit how many times you can hit the deal, but keep in mind that they are limited and kids will be excited to get them as well, so we have to try to remember not to be greedy
, and all of these figures are reproductions of things you could probably buy cheaper on Bricklink if you want an army.

Hmm, good point. I should check on Bricklink. Don't worry about me buying a lot of them, I'm saving most of my money for pieces. Besides I'm still a kid
. Or close enough
Thanks for the great info and fast reply.

I'm not to sure about them being a whole lot cheaper from Bricklink, I checked and they were at least 3.25 plus shipping. So if you are going to be buying any Legos it looks like a great deal to me. Plus these will be brand new, I just wish they came with some accessories.

Re: Bricktober
Yeah, us kids need some too, especially as we were not around when the real sets came out.
Maybe we should buy them out, and not let the adults get any
.....

I'm not sure, but last year it was just for Canada and US Toys "R" Us stores. So it is not to likely that Portuguese TRU's will have it, unfortunately.

Yeah, it seems rather strange that they just do it over here, oh well.
After considering costs, I probably will not be getting any of the guys unless they have a really good sale on some of their sets, like 3 or 4 cents a piece. Even then I need my money for my next project.

I remember that these werent available for inidividual sale until October was over.
For some reason there was a horde of leftovers available. I remember getting a bunch of these in my stocking from my wife including the
Black Falcon. My wife said they were giving them away for free....

OMG!!
The minifigures are glued to the magnetic base! (There is no head-pound or facepalm emoticon...
)
Also, the Bricktober figures for 2010 had a 1x2 plate at least so they would not perpetually bow to every person approaching the fridge, but the 2011 figures do not have that option. My Ninja Princess leans forward all the time!
Yet, the head and hat do come off.
So, next week the free item will be the Robin Hood figure, but for me it will simply be a brown hat pack.
Oh, and a classic smiley head too I guess.
At least they are free with stuff I already want.
