2012 NY Toy Fair images and musings

Post by Count Blacktron »

The LEGO fan website FBTB.net has uploaded many, many, MANY photos and even videos to their Flickr account from the 2012 New York Toy Fair.
A link to their frontpage here... http://www.fbtb.net/

While Kingdoms and Castle are notably absent, things look quite good for fans of castles and medieval creations in general.
High on my list of interest are the Lord of the Rings assortments:

But also the surprise return of classic movie-monsters in the theme Monster Fighters:

Plenty of goodies to love in these with elements that will add great detail to any builders collection of parts and ideas. Cannot wait to see them in stores this Summer.
Thank you for looking!

While TLOTR sets were pretty much what I expected, they're impressive none the less. ETA: The articulated horses are awesome. Hopefully we'll see some white ones to go along with the black and browns :D

I was pleasantly surprised by the new Monster Fighters theme, I really dig The Ghost Train, and was overall impressed and dare I say...Excited? I'm looking forward to this one for sure.

What surprised me was the new color for the small leaf piece in the werewolf set. They even give prices, parts count and release projections. Can't wait.

I like the LOTR sets, although their prices are staggering...

I definitely will get Helms Deep and Uruk-Hai Army, but I don't plan to buy more. But saying it and resisting the temptation, especially with no sign of regular castle sets, are different things entirely.

As with other AFOLs & TFOLs, my wallet seems as if it's already starting to feel ever so smaller.

Surprisingly, the Monster Hunters theme has really piqued my interest. The new ghost piece and manbat seem as if they are really useful. And of course, the LOTR have kept me interested since their announcement and consequential pictures. :)

The monster fighters theme looks pretty cool. I bet the designers had a ton of fun designing those sets. The werewolf set has olive green 4x3 plant pieces as seen here. Those would be pretty useful in a swamp landscape.
Image.
You would rather be building right now.
