Anyone ever built a successful LEGO campfire?

Postby Bluesecrets » Thu Apr 05, 2012 3:11 pm

Hey all,

I'm trying to build a campfire. And failing miserably. This being the least offensive attempt I have ever made:

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3157/5860656193_0dee51bcf9.jpg

I've searched. I find nothing like what I want it to be. Which is something like this:

So I"m asking for some help from my epically talented castle men and women. Do any of you know of or have successfully built a LEGO campfire? Links would be very very very helpful. Thanks ever so much.

This is one I made, it doesn't seem to be exactly what you want, but here it is.
You would rather be building right now.

I also made one awhile ago... Campfire pic

I'm still pretty new to the community, So I don't know any really awesome examples. Eklund's fire being the only one I've seen in awhile.

I can't for the life of me remember who it was, but somebody had made a campfire MOC with a few Robin Hood/Peter pan/Forestman-esque kids sitting around it, looking scared at their surroundings.

The campfire in that was excellently pulled off, and their image was great. I'll look around a bit, i'd like to think it's exactly what you are looking for.
I am afraid of sharks. Just so you know.

That...Was Siercon and Coral. I think their campfire is just what you need, Lady Blue.

My basic technique is to start with about four or five jumper plates on the ground, in either black or dark gray (to be the ashes), and put old-style flames sticking up out of the open studs. Then I kind of randomly pile logs made either of 2 or 3 1x1 round bricks, or just brown lightsaber blades, in between the flames. For a larger fire connect more flames via the notch technique. Examples are here and here. You could get more shape by alternating in some of the new plume/flame pieces.

While this is not a campfire I made a beacon (http://www.flickr.com/photos/legomoreph ... hotostream ) which could be made smaller if you used this piece-http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=11&itemID=763 Upside down. and use brown axe handles a fuel.
