What Is Your Brick of Choice?

Postby SPACE MARINE » Sun Apr 15, 2012 11:08 am

Once I can procure a some funds, I want to start a project that I consider a SHIP, or in this case, a cathedral. But there are so many different kinds of bricks, and everyone has their personal favorite base brick, the brick that they buy in bulk and use as a go-to brick. Which brick is your 'brick of choice', and why?

It's a tie between 1x3 and 1x4. I own WAY more 1x3s in bley due to the nearest PaB having those in stock 24/7. :)

So, due to that, most of my castles and stone-colored MOCs are reliant on 1x3 bley bricks.
I am afraid of sharks. Just so you know.

my favorites are the 1x10s, when making large walls they are much sturdier than the smaller bricks.

1x3 is my favorite. You can use it for round walls (plus 1x1 round). And it is possible to make odd and even lenghts (studs). And the number three is awesome :D

1x2's are the most versatile, I think, mainly because they are small enough to build almost any scale (1x10's are awfully tough to build vignettes with ;) ) and they also enable you to build curved walls (either alone for large radii or w/ a 1x1 round for tighter radii). Additionally, they're pretty much exclusively what I use for crennelations at the top of my walls. You pretty much can build a whole castle with just 1x2's, if you wanted to, and if you use them en mass for walls, the cracks between bricks make a nice stonework pattern.

1x2 all the way, for a variety of reasons. As far as realism goes, the 1x3 might be better, but I like the 1x2 brick pattern for its simplicity and curvability. Also, 1x2s have a much wider color range than most other bricks. Whenever I see 1x2s on the PaB wall, I make sure to get some. :)

This thread is more appropriate in General Lego. I will move it there.

I would have to say 1x2. it's the most useful IMO. :)
