As I was browsing Wikipedia, I noticed a familiar piece, a 2x2 red wheel with a tire around it. It was in the "Did you know..." section of the front page, and I was delighted to read that LEGO is the largest manufacturer of tires in the world, despite making tires much smaller than other manufacturers.
See for yourself, in 2011, LEGO produced nearly twice as many tires as major tire producers such as Goodyear, Michelin, and Bridgestone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lego_tire
