On Hands
On Hands
Okaaaaay, this is a rather silly question, but is there a "correct" or "incorrect" way to have hands on a minifig? I always have them with the "long" side on top, but LEGO themselves do it the other way round... Any opinions?

Long side on top of course
Otherwise it looks like your characters are all mongols with weapons.

*And the bulls arrive in kk2*
Cedric the bull: "Hahaha Leo we're here to- wtf?"
*and the bulls see some happy knights bouncing at each other with carts*
Cedric (shocked): "I guess we got the wrong KK''
Bull soldier (frightened): "Lets go back"

I always put them "long" side up. For me too it's one of the first things I do when I get a new set.
To me that just looks more like the real shape of a hand. If you make your hand into a fist, look at the overall shape. Across the top it will be "flat" and the bottom and front will have more of a curving shape. Just like a little LEGO person.
Also, when put that way a figure can hold more things - the hand can act as a stud.
However, in some cases the hand "upside down" (If I can call it that?!) looks better. This picture of mine is a good example of that, in my opinion.
Has anyone else noticed that not all figures seem to have hands upside down anymore? Not that I really pay a whole lot of attention, but I don't recall having to flip the hands on some more recent sets.

Hi Bruce,Bruce N H wrote:I noticed that too in the most recent set I opened--of 3 figs, only one had "upside-down" hands.
I have a set I'm going to open later today, a World City set, it has two figs, so I'll make sure to check them. I'm sure it's all a matter of how they're made - Maybe different machines are more recent or use a slightly different technique, or something?
