Well I have been officially labeled a blockist by my wife. It all comes down to the fact i have a problem with kreo, an mega blocks, an i hate mixing them with my lego!

My reasoning you may ask? I dont feel they are of the same quality as lego. Dont last as long an dont fit quite right. Plus the plates always seemed thicker.

Probably 99.9% of people on this forum are "blockists". Off- brand bricks are not nearly as good in terms of quality of materials and manufacturing precision.

Lego brand bricks are molded so carefully that precision tolerances of as little as 0.002 millimeters are achieved.

Clone bricks are a disgrace to humanity, and all of them should be destroyed.

As you can see, I tend to be very anti-clone brick, as I'm sure most if not all of us are. I think the only prominent builder that used clone bricks (at least, the only I could think of) was nnenn. Granted, I've seen minifigure customizers use clone parts and the like.

That's not a problem, that's normal. Problem goes away if the others go away...

Yeah, I'm very blockist, but I have also come to appreciate other builders like Dave Xandegar from Brixwerx as an artist. I think it's important that we keep an open mind too. Lego fans tend to have a very elitist attitude.

And if staying purist makes me happy, then I'm happy. If they aren't, and they're happy, then everyone's happy.

(but in secret I will burn the Mega-bloks )

I personally never liked clone brands and never have/will buy one of their sets. But they do get some cool licensed themes that I wish Lego got. . .

I don't have enough experience with non-LEGO brands to have an opinion on their quality, but I stick with LEGO because a) I know the quality is there, and b) for uniformity of appearance. The other brands could be perfectly good, but have different formulas for the plastic and colors that would make noticeable inconsistencies in a build.

As I have been around this site a while, I have seen the unwelcoming people do of the use of blocks that are not LEGO in their mocs here. It is often met with we are LEGO fans, not mega fans (etc). Sometimes just plain rudeness, which really just makes everyone look bad and should be avoided.

I am selective about what I own. I have worked with several of the clone brands and just don't enjoy them. Whether it is their set designs, instructions, brick quality, clutch issues, or color mismatching, they are just not what makes me happy.

Now when it comes to the term blockist, I am not a fan of that word. I prefer I am a LEGO fan, not a block fan. Blockist sounds so...negative. My hobby only has one negative to it...the draining of my money.

I agree with both of you, money and space getting eatin up quick!

GASP! I love my clones!!!

My story is full of clones - they make AMAZING enemies to all that is right and good and Lego...!



They also have some unique pieces and designs... I'll keep my clones forever... BUT I will NOT mix them with my Lego pieces... no way! Label me a blockist if you must!

I have to say that clones are a nightmare to work with... if not for story writing I would never buy them and I would never buy them for a child!! Many of them are dangerous!

The bricks do not actually fit together in many cases - so that if you move the model entire walls will collapse. The figs have hands that fall out of the arm at the slightest touch. The helmets do not fit on the heads of the figs all the way, looking like the fig is wearing a top-hat of sorts.

One exception is Oxford, from Korea. Their Chinese/Korean themed sets are pretty good and the pieces are higher quality.

I would never mix them with my Lego though~
