Ah yes, I think of those as the golden days. If McDonalds brought those back, I'd definitely be getting more Happy Meals. :roflol:

Yes, I do. Getting the LEGO in the Happy Meals was my first encounter with LEGO, and predates me getting my first sets on my 3rd birthday. :o

Needless to say, I'm less than excited when I'm picking through slopes and I find one that fits the bill... only to flip it over and be greeted with Ronald McDonald's face.

I got a couple of the Bionicle Matoran back from McDonalds from around 2000 I wanna say. I think the most recent Lego ones they had were Lego Batman, but not one of them were system compatible. Just hunks of plastic.

Brickset http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=1912-1 shows this as a 1983 set and this agrees with my memory based on where I thought I was living at the time I got these four Blue showed. Bricklink shows 1989. The images on instructions show Black Falcons and there is no mention of Pirates. Pirates were the big thing in 89.

I remember! Nowadays, I'm sure they can't put them in Happy Meals due to choking hazards. Such a shame :(

In 2009 they had these racer 'sets':

More in this Eurobricks thread.
They were only three pieces, but they were System. I've got one of those thrown in with the kids' LEGO parts. I could imagine using the parts to make more elaborate racers. They have also had Bionicle at some point:

I vaguely remember when they had those, but didn't get any. From that picture they appear to be compatible with other Bionicle stuff.
I very much agree on the horribleness of the 2008 Batman toys. BTW, we have threads on them here and here (in that second link Athos got a couple of them and posted pics to his Brickshelf).
I vaguely recall these hockey things from 2004.

Unfortunately, Brickset, Peeron and Bricklink don't really document these various promo items very well, so finding information on them is a bunch of hit-and-miss Googling.

They used to have those race cars in cheerio boxes a while back as well. It seems like Lego has pretty much ceased with all proportionals as far as I know though. :(

Bricklink has a list of all the co-branded items listed by company here. All of the Mcdonalds promos can be found here.

Cool! Thanks for that link.

Well that's not true. They just gave away polybag sets with a London newspaper about a week ago. Last year there was a Shell promo in some Asian countries, etc. Here in the US the main place for promos right now is via Toys R Us - they have the annual Bricktober, and every so often there is a promo when you buy a certain amount of LEGO you get a polybag, etc. The same thing also happens through LEGO.com. There have been special giveaways at events like Comic-Con, and didn't they give away LEGO Avengers posters at lots of theaters on opening weekend of that movie? There was a Bilbo minifig packaged with the Hobbit DVD if you got it at Target. There have of course been exclusive figs as promos with the various LEGO video games if you pre-ordered through certain stores. If you're just talking about McDonalds, we've noted about ten promos over the last twenty or so years, so you can probably on average expect another one every two or three years.

I agree. I had the airplane, and there's no way I was 12 when I got it. It has to be older.
