I kind of like the Lady Robot for the absurd kitsch. And this is me saying it, so...

Well, that's not a reasonable conclusion. For LEGO it's all going to come down to whether enough people want something to offset the costs involved in designing, producing, distributing and marketing a new item so that they make a profit.* Say, for instance, they made a special 'Bruce N H' fig. I'd certainly buy a few, and maybe a few people in this forum would buy one to put in MOCs as a joke or something, but in the end LEGO would lose a ton of money on such a fig. I'm sure they market test all of their fig ideas to see what sort of popularity they will have.

Bruce

*Or, I suppose, what sort of free publicity they will get from the figs. Here I'm thinking of the limited run figs they do as promotions, like the recent Comic-Con.**
**On Comic-Con, the fact that they made new molds for the Azog fig pretty much ensured that he would be coming in some form in a future set. The cost of new molds is just too high*** to justify for an extremely limited run fig.
***I suppose, to argue the other side,**** it could be that for extremely limited runs they would produce elements in a much cheaper way, say by producing low quality molds that could be used a small number of times and then discarded, or by 3D printing.
****Of course, in this case it has since been confirmed (well, at least second-hand) that this particular fig will appear in a future set, just in a different color.*****
*****This is just a superfluous footnote.

Ok, let me restate that.

Its good for the person/people that like the minifigure. If lego made a minifigure that one of my friends liked, and say it was really tacky or something and I did not like it at all. I would still be perfectly happy that they got the minifigure, for their sake. For Lego, it would be completely ridiculous to make every minifigure someone wanted them to. But obviously they do not make any minifigs unless they think that they will sell ok. Thus, lego makes money, the fans of the minifig get what they want, and everyone else is left no worse off then before.

I was just saying that Kev was taking it kinda far. If you dont like the minifigure, fine. Dont buy it. If you end up buying it, sell it give it away trash it. Who cares? What I am saying is that if someone is made happy by this minifigure, then Kev should just be happy for them. If not, take the sheet of paper for this series and throw darts at the lady robot. At least Karalora and AK like it.

I know this is off topic so I'll keep it short. I'm pretty sure that confirmation of a different color Azog turned out to be baloney.

Back on topic, I think it's a great looking set of figures but I don't see a lot aside from the yeti that I personally want aside from a couple Bricklink-able pieces. S10's Roman torso and sea captain arms made it a surprise success for me. I don't see anything like that in this one.

That has been my generally thought on this set Str0ngbad. A few of the figures are neat and I look forward to collecting them, but on the whole, nothing really stands out to me. It all looks rather bland and uninviting.

As I previously stated, I was incredibly excited about the general release info and pics of this series. But now that I have had time to look it over, I just feel quite empty about them.

These have been appearing out in the wild.

I've heard from a few people that they've been released in the UK, though I haven't seen any myself yet. Not that it matters- I still need to complete Wave 10.

I have heard the same thing too.
Is there an official release date? I seem to recall reading somewhere that they would be released in September, and if that's the case, I imagine TRU should have had them on the shelf by now.

Can anyone confirm any of the aforementioned?

I've heard supposedly the US release date is Sept 1st, it sounds about right anyways. Odds are TRU will have them out earlier here in the US.
Build? I merely Acquire atm.

I would think so. If the release date is September 1 for the general public, it seems the next few days may be opportune to pick them up from TRU.

I do, however, wonder why they don't go ahead and put them on the official LEGO website like they day for the sets that haven't been released (except for VIP members), e.g., Ewok Village?

Yep they're out in WHSmiths in the UK. Probably to coincide with a newspaper promotion that's giving away 'free' lego this week as well.

Had heard rumours that some stores had been told off from TLG and had removed them from sale, but doesn't seem to be the case at my local store. They even have a new 'meet the gang/collect them all' poster in the window.

The staff are also wearing bright yellow "FREE LEGO" t-shirts in case anyone wasn't aware of the newspaper promo.

I fondled one (series 11 packet, not t-shirt) but decided they'd be around for a while, and I had said I was stopping having completed series 10 only a few weeks ago...

Personally I think the series are coming out too fast, and that's going to be reflected in the quality of the characters, and peoples uptake/purchase of them.

That said, I still want a bunch of barbarians so I can make them look a bit more 'barbaric', rather than scruffy looking gladiators they currently look like.

That's how I feel- a few waves ago I decided I was only going to complete the first 10, and that pledge still stands.

I've got fatigue from the no breaks between waves and the speed they come out at, but more importantly, because it's an expensive game and money that I could (and would) be spending on other Lego. From here on out i'm only going to be Bricklinking or targeting specific ones, either for the fig or the parts.

I am definitely only getting the highlights of each wave at this point. With so many waves coming out each year, it's just not worth having to buy so many figs all at one go. I've found that by waiting and picking up some of my secondary favorites on bricklink actually saves me $ off of full retail.

Mhm, I'm seeing a trend that I kinda agree with. For me I don't really want a complete series. I've only purchased medieval/fantasy-esque ones or if they have really useful pieces. So I'll probably end up getting more than a few barbarians, scarecrows, tribal warriors and elves... :P

I buy a few locally(if I can find them) to see if I can get lucky and get one I like. If not, Bricklink to the rescue. I hate trying to feel the package for the ones I want. Even in this relatively small town I have seen families doing this at Target. It just looks childish in my opinion.

I do like the Barbarian, Pretzel girl, tiki guy, and Blues Sax player. Plus I like how they bring back the past with the Blacktron robot/cyborg whatever.
