What do you watch....
For your build inspirations? I have really taken to the newest Robin hood (2010), as well as the prince of theives, as well as the good old stand by of LOTR? So what inspires you?

Re: What do you watch....
Good old fashion castle movies...like prior to 1970. I do the same for pirate too. There is something to be said about the classic movies and how they presented castles. Sure it wasn't realistic but it was still good castle. I even head toward classic Disney. I even watch every Three Musketeer movie I can get my hands on for inspiration. New movies just don't inspire me as much, but then I'm sure there are exceptions to that. But in general, it is always a good thing to sit down and watch some Errol Flynn.

I think Kingdom of Heaven is a good one for desert or crusade style building.

I don't usually watch a movie to get inspired to build, I think music and literature are a bit more inspirational to me personally.
Yes! Totally! Those movies are great!Bluesecrets wrote:...But in general, it is always a good thing to sit down and watch some Errol Flynn.

I'll have to agree with Mark, typically I'm inspired by books and songs. Even videogames! Not so much movies.
...However, there are a few medieval themed movies that I love to watch every now and then. While not strictly medieval, I'm a massive fan of The Princess Bride. In addition to that, Roman Polanski's version of Macbeth is another one I like. The 1981 version of Excalibur I have seen more than once, although it does get goofy by the end. And I of course, love the LOTR films (and the books, re-reading them all this summer).

Yes deffinitly some good choices guys. While yes i agree that music an litterature are excelent forms of inspiration, i dont have much access to good books on castles. An until that changes movies are my best source.
An untill wensday when we get the net at the house, full web access has been close to non existance for the last several years.

Re: What do you watch....
For sci-fi inspiration, I usually watch something by Ridley Scott. I haven't seen Kingdom of Heaven yet, but that might strike me the same way for castle stuff.
Beyond that, I like classics. Ivanhoe, Errol Flynn Robin Hood, etc.
However, I don't watch movies for inspiration; it's just something that sometimes happens when I do watch a movie.

Same here.rogue27 wrote: However, I don't watch movies for inspiration; it's just something that sometimes happens when I do watch a movie.
Some movies that inspire me are LOTR (of course) and the hobbit, a knights tale, Braveheart, Willow, and Many different versions of Robin Hood, including prince of thieves, Errol Fllyn, and the 2006 BBC show...
But I am more inspired by music like Yes, Rush, and Howard Shore... and I am also inspired by medieval artwork and music.
