On behalf of the "Forbidden Cove"

Post by Purple Wolf »

So I have brought it on my self to ask people of Classic Castle if you like to build in pirate or want to build in pirate to join the Forbidden Cove http://forbiddencove.com/parlay/

It has been slowly dying over the last year or two but if you could become members and help bring back the Cove there may yet still be a chance to save it. There are still a few active members on it but not enough to keep it going we need members who will be active or at least slightly active but there isn't enough builds happening it is part of you job to keep to forum active and not just wait until a contest comes around.

So I ask you to come over and join are our crew, remember you must be 16 or older to join. The Terms of Service can be found here http://www.forbiddencove.com/tos.html

Thank you for your time.

Purple Wolf :)

It's a pity that the Cove is beginning to die, I always enjoyed the great builds you guys have over there. I would join, but I'm not going to be 16 for another 9 months, so if in 9 months you guys are still here, I'l join.
Best of luck

Sorry to hear that. Do you think this is connected to a lack of pirate sets being produced by TLG? I know castle fans often complain about the quality/design of castle sets produced, but at least it's something! And there are always other themes to be pillaged for castley parts (Chima, LOTR etc).

Hopefully if/when the pirate theme returns then we will see a resurgence in Pirate builds due to the greater availabilty of sets and inspiration.

I've browsed the forums over there every now and then, but I'm not sure if I joined or not. I'll give it a look. I haven't build in the theme for a while though...

I'm no expert on the matter, but I feel like this is the most likely scenario. Even in more active areas for Pirates fans (Eurobricks' Classic Pirates comes to mind), the builds and discussion has evolved so far past the LEGO sets as a whole considering the last Pirate theme was POTC, and before that a short lived 2009 theme. And before that, I think it goes back into the 90s. IMO, Pirates should become an evergreen theme.

It's a shame that the forum is withering away though. I guess that's an aftereffect of LEGO focusing elsewhere. Best of luck to you and the community over at Cove (IIRC, the Cove is a sister-site to CC, isn't it?)

Excellent. A great way for you to start your life at the Cove would to enter the Holiday Seed Part Challenge that Blue Secrets is hosting. Rules and prizes can be found here :) http://forbiddencove.com/parlay/viewtop ... f=6&t=1411

I've checked out the Cove several times before and just got around to signing up. I'm working on a Pirates build too :)

Sounds good, but right now it'll be a couple of years before I'm 16, and I have done any pirate building. Yet. :sly:

I need to get active over there. I mean to. I have a fig and an entire motley crew of pirates I've never photographed. I have a ship (of sorts) and I even spent about $25.00 on the last seed part challenge on bricklink to not even finish my entry.

I have a resolution this year to be more active!

Maybe if I spent less time buying LEGO, searching for good deals, and posting about Castle, I could be more active.

Thanks, and I intend to participate in as many of the contests/challenges there as I can :)
