Lego Movie Classic space set.
Lego Movie Classic space set.
These might not be official sets but concidering that the pictures are taken from a book about The Lego Movie I'm guessing that they probably are real. They are definitely official, we just have to wait to see if they actually come out as sets.

After looking at the space ship in its awesome classic colours and design but updated using new pieces. I'm thinking that its not just some MOC because the unicorn is wearing a blue space helmet and some of the parts don't come in those colours.
I started to think how cool it would be if we got a classic castle set appearing in the Lego Movie. Even better if we actually got a castle set but with an updated design but in a classic style and and using a classic faction.
The Lego castle set that is being released from the movie, looks great and builds a very nice looking gatehouse but it would have been amazing if they had actually used an older faction like they used the blue space man with the cracked helmet to represent the space theme.
Maybe the sequel to the Lego Movie [you know there will be one] could be set in a medieval time.

Wow, I'd be happy if that classic-style space ship became an official set.

Re: Lego Movie Classic space set.
Without a doubt, many fans have been waiting for a set like this, and you know TLC didn't do this set for the young kids. I am one of those fans who are SUPER EXCITED over this set!!! This is the set I am most excited for in 2014 now.
And hey look, Johnny Thunder is back! As if we needed more of him, but still cool.

I'm happy that the classic space logo on the slopes appears to be printed. Everything else appears to be decals, unfortunately.
I agree with EK, this looks like the best 2014 retail set so far.

Re: Lego Movie Classic space set.
I guess I'm going to start here. I don't know that there will be a sequel. If you watched the Clutch Powers dvd, you would have sworn there were going to be two sequels to that one. It was a fun movie, worth trying to find to watch. But no sequel followed, let alone two. Will there be one for this movie? It remains to be seen. But part of me really wants to say "I wish LEGO would keep to what LEGO does best, and stay out of all these other areas." And then I look at the figs in these sets and I change my mind.Maybe the sequel to the Lego Movie [you know there will be one] could be set in a medieval time.
Now about these pictures of sets. As odd as it seems, I am just not so sure about them. Everything we know about LEGO and how they handle the release of new sets, say they wouldn't be showing these pictures 6 months in advance without a "confidential" marking on them. The whole leak thing, is complicated and they are getting tougher about it with more and more competition existing. I do find it telling that they have surfaced during the time frame that LEGO is on Holidays. If they are in fact real, I would suspect they will be removed as soon as LEGO realizes they are online. And if they are real, that means someone violated an NDA, that isn't fun.
Now...I can't deny the thought of that classic space one made me super happy and excited. There is just something about Classic Space that pulls at the heart strings of "oh..that makes me happy" even though I am not a space person. So I am hoping those are real.
And more importantly, I hope they don't violate our TOS about leaks and LEGO's policy about them too. If so, sorry in advance because we will have to remove the link. But here is hoping we don't need to.

Re: Lego Movie Classic space set.
Hey,
Thanks to FBTB for this link: these pictures come from The LEGO Movie: The Essential Guide, published by DK, available as of today from Amazon (not yet on Barnes & Noble's website).* So, in answer to a few of the questions above, these do not seem to indicate a sequel, but instead come from this movie, and also they are not illicit leaks. No indication whether these are upcoming sets from a summer wave, or if they are just more pics of models used in the movie, which will presumably be chock full of constructions. The one thing in favor of these being actual upcoming sets is that so many of these DK books simply act as big catalogs, but OTOH if they wanted to make a book as part of the movie promotion and they limited themselves to actual sets, they'd have like a ten page book.
Bruce
*Hmm, it looks like Amazon may be jumping the gun. This book is not even listed on the DK US site, but on they DK UK site they say it is not available until mid-January, and on the DK Germany site they say mid-February. On the leak issue, if Amazon is selling it, it does not count as an illicit leak, even if the actual publication date isn't for a couple of weeks.
Also, I see that there is a sticker book which is also released. I think I've seen this in Barnes & Noble already, but didn't look through it. That may be another possible source of movie and/or set pictures.

Back to the topic, I am as excited about the possibility of the set as anyone, as I never have owned (due to my young age) a Classic Space set and as a result of that unfortunate occurrence have always wanted one. More than anything I'm glad to see that the 1980-Something Space Guy has a cool conveyance! Now, I don't know much about the publisher, but judging by the photo of the 'sets' by those people, I thing we can make an accurate assumption that they are actually sets. I may eat those words, but I think that is the case.

Re: Lego Movie Classic space set.
It seems like the second wave of lego movie sets is more aimed at older people, as most of them are larger sets, not to mention the 2000 piece metalbeards sea cow.
