As I said on Flickr, I think you should have gotten 2 largest instead of 4 smalls. Because 2 smallish is the same amount as a large, but together they cost $2 more, so a large is a better deal.

I can't wait to see your haul, but I wanted to correct you on one thing. It is actually a much better deal to get two smalls as together they have a higher volume than one big.

Ian, how much did you get?

The other day I was able to visit a LEGO Store, but only had the time to get one large PaB cup. I got a ton of grass stalks, which I was really hoping for. I also got some pink studs, lavender 1x2 plates, purple 1x2 tiles, trans-blue jewels and some purple flowers.

Ok so in an effort to put an end to the debate on what is a better value and what holds more volume, I did an experiment. I will post pictures later.

The winner is the large PAB! With liquid measure i filled a large glass pyrex measureing cup with 4 cups colored liquid. I filled the small pab to the brim and it held exactly 2 cups. I then proceded to fill a large pab. It took all 4 cups and still has about 1/8" left till it is filled. So the large cup holds a little more then 2 small pab cups. The debate on what is the better value should now be put to rest :)

Will try to upload photos today, although I'm gonna have to try to do it from my mom's phone, as I'm away from my computer. I went absolutely nuts on trans clear cheese and grass stalks.

It may depend on store. For example, the Tigard OR store allows a gap between the lid and the cup, this adds the gap plus the depth of the lid as additional volume to each cup. Getting an extra one of those volumes would certainly outweigh an extra 1/8" (the excess this way must be at least 1/2").

Ok guys, Here are the Pics. Even taking into account the volume of the lid which is the same for both the Large and small PAB, which is 1/2 cup. the small Pab holds 2 cups,

Image

and the Large PAB holds 4 Cups plus,

Image

There is still this space which is about 1/4 cup or still an 1/8" to capacity'

Image

Even with a store allowing for a gap in the lid you still get more bang for you buck with the large cup. Sorry to all that think that the small cup is a better deal but it simply isn't so, volume measure doesn't lie! Volume of a small PAB not snapping the lid would be about 2.5 cups (Depending how lid is sitting) Volume of Large Pab same way about 5 cups( again depending on how lid is sitting). so if you get 2 small cups your getting about the same as 1 large. but paying more.

Hope this is helpful.
