Some recent LEGO news:
Release dates from Variety:
Feb 10, 2017 - LEGO Batman movie
Sept 22, 2017 - Ninjago movie
May 18, 2018 - Sequel to the LEGO Movie
Everything would be a bit more awesome if these were sooner, but looking forward to these anyway.
Also, I won't do a separate post for this, but Brickset noted that DC and Warner Brothers announced yesterday a new initiative launching in 2016, DC Super Hero Girls, which looks like it will include cartoons, games, toys, etc, with girls as their target audience. The reason to note this here is that LEGO is already on board. The key sentence is "The LEGO Group will also be key to building the DC Super Hero Girls franchise, leveraging their experience and success engaging girls in creative construction play to bolster this universe through an array of LEGO® building sets designed to inspire girls' imaginations." No word when LEGO sets are going to come out, and if they will be fig based or minidoll based. The full announcement is here.

It sounds very much like the DC Super Hero Girls will be minidolls, but I would certainly prefer if it were simply an expansion of the DC Comics product line that already exists.
