(LDraw) Bluebonnet Station

Post by SavaTheAggie »

Those of you who follow me on Flickr have more than likely already seen this. A few weeks ago I decided to create a station to use up spare medium blue 1x2 plates I picked up off the LEGO Store Pick A Brick wall. What started out being an idea of using up scrap parts became a very involved, relatively detailed build I'm a bit proud of.

There's a few bits that need ironing out, a few places where some parts overlap that shouldn't, but nothing that I can't fix in real bricks.

So here she is: Bluebonnet Station:

And here's the other side (from a slightly earlier version)

The next step will be getting all the other parts collected (including more medium blue 1x2s :P)

I love it! One of the things that I think the modular Lego city theme needs is a train station, and yours would be outstanding.

I have now finished it in real Bricks, with some changes to the original design.

This looks amazing Tony. I love the texture you got out of all 1x2 plates. Is it me, or did you give the plates a little bit of a twist when you stacked them together? It gives a really nice effect, with the leading edges of each plate standing out, but would have been really intense to build.

Hmm, CCC entry? :D

Beautiful build! The blue and white colorscheme is quite pretty, and as Bruce said, the plate stacking makes for a nice texture :)

I really like using the lego die for the four sided clock.

Thanks all, I appreciate it. The twist in the plates actually happened a bit naturally, and I didn't bother correcting it cause I liked the look. To be honest its easier to let the twist happen than try to make sure there isn't one.

I think this one would bend the "MISC" a bit much, wouldn't you say Bruce? :raiseone:
