Building arches with keystones

Post by Mike&Libby »

I'm sorry to bother you more experienced builders but me and my daughter are trying to build a castle entrance with and arch and key stones similar to the one featured here http://www.lowlug.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f= ... 0&start=80 created by Dutch builder alios. I can't work out how to arrange the keystones properly and cannot find any help online. We've been using 1x1 bricks with a stud and 2x1 plates but can't get it right. Can anyone point me in the direction of some instructions for this technique or offer any advice.

Thanks everyone for any help you can offer.

Mike and Libby.

It looks like they might have used headlight bricks, attached sideways to the bottom of the large arch piece. And then attached the 1x2 tiles to the exposed sideways studs on the end of the headlight bricks.
Does that explanation make any sense?

I don't think it is really a keystone arch, just cleverly designed to look like on. I would guess he is using snot bricks (http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/cata ... ge?P=87087) and tiles.

If you open the flickr account linkd under the third (last) picture, there's a really nice interior view that shows everything you need as far as how the arch was done.

Thanks for posting that. That's a wonderful little building! I would buy that in a second.
