The use of a Fantasy Theme...

Post by medib »

Thoughts of this topic were calling in my brain as I built the Citidel of Orlan...
what is the real use of Fantasy Themes in the Lego Company???

Knights Kingdom 2 isn't the first fantasy theme Lego has put out.
I remember Time Twisters and Time Cruisers, both stinkin' nasty
themes, full of "excess" bricks.

Its like the execs at Lego looked at the molds and said "these parts are
underused, use them in a set".

Today, with Lego's desire to cut costs, more and more pieces from
other themes are ending up in all sets, so Lego is forced to
have more fanstasy themes to use them.

Anyways, that was running through my head as I built.

Are you saying we can expect a new time-travel theme in a couple years to re-use those KK2 parts?

Yuck!

Good Lord No!!!

Heaven Help all of US!!!

I was just pointing out that those fantasy themes in the past had used
"excess parts" in a jumbled up theme, and in my opinion, at least
as far as the Citadel goes, it was a similar experience (the use of
new "excess" parts).

That's all...

The time twisters were cool in a disturbing way.
The kk2 were disturbing in a way.
How about they make a fantasy pirate theme?

Hello!

Speaking of excess parts (P=L):

Yippie! A trap door! Great idea! Listen, TLC, every set should have at least one or two of those. Really!

I think the figs are Jackstone size. The box says 4+ and that's where Jackstone figs went last year. I didn't know about these sets at all till now. My 4yr old would love the pirate theme, and I'd rather her have these than Fisher-Price stuff.
As for fantasy themed sets, Lego has over worked the grey matter for KK2. Too much fantasy money was being thought of when they came up with that one. I say listen to the AFOLs, go back to classic castle themes and factions.
