Alternate models of 4851 The Origins and 10156 LEGO Truck

Post by Lord_Of_The_LEGO »

I pride myself in having a fairly large collection, and usally I have an amble supply of bricks for a certain MOC that I want to build. I was reading the 'When I was younger...' thread and one point that hit me was how when everyone was younger (including myself), we had a whole lot less bricks then we have now, which really limited us but also pushed our creativity. I recently got two new sets in the mail, 4851 and 10156, and since they looked like they had decent part I decide to try to make some alternate models with only the pieces from those sets. I had to throw four sided houses to the winds, and the urge for complete color coordination. This is what I came up with:

Airport, built with the parts from 4851

Telescope, built with parts from 4851

Truck, built with parts from 10156

It was a challenge to built something remotely satisfactory with such few parts in so many colors, but I had a fun time built like I did when I was a wee lil lad.

EDIT: oops, I forgot the folder link, here it is:

Very nice Nathan! I really like how you take one set and build alternate madels. Very very creative and inspiring.

There is a small complaint though. Could you post links to the folder? The pics are small and I would like to rate the mocs.
Space rocks.

Very cool! I like that idea, and next time I buy a set I will have to try that like I did when I was young. I noticed you storage system in the background and was wondering if you had pics of th whole setup. Thanks.

Thanks, it's fun when you're bored and half of your other pieces in in the process of sorting! :)

Yeah, try it, it's nice to get back to basics once in a while. What you see in the background is only a small portion of my sorting system, and that is only one type. I also use bins for larger pieces like POOPs, sandwitch bags for 'modified' bricks, like 1x2s with grill, and open trays for tiles and such. I don't have any pics yet, but once I clean up my room I'll be sure to take some!

Also, here's another model built out of 10156 LEGO Truck:

Thanks for the link to the whole folder NATHAN! I too like your sorting system.

Now that I can see what the telescoe looks like I jave to comment again.

Very nice work. I really like how it looks like a lab, and observatory.

Great job Nathan.
