Superman!

Christopher Reeve played a hero on screen but was even more heroic in his life. Here is my little tribute. BTW, I cannot take any credit for the fig design. I've seen others use that exact same combination.

Nice job Bruce. I like the middle building and how you did the door. Great ideas.

It's funny (i.e. ironic) that after the Dangerfield tribute, I was going to mention that I hope you don't get any more inspiration for tributes. Alas.

I love the forced perspective of the mini-buildings - the only suggestion I'd make is to use a wide-angle lens (or widest angle on a zoom lens) to get a stronger perspective to the buildings.

A very nice tribute....

What kind of tribute is better than Lego?

Nice work on the buildings.

As an activist and a good man, Mr. Reeve will be much missed. He was a great inspiration.

Thanks guys. I always appreciate microfig MOCs, so that was a fun aspect of this. I'm actually not thrilled with the cone (supposed to be a tree). Other than this the color scheme of the whole thing is grays/black except for the red, blue and yellow on the fig which is reflected in the cars. The sand green kind of breaks the color scheme. I felt like I needed something on the first row of studs, because it looked really bare when it was just tiles.

I kind of thought about that too. I almost didn't post this one because I don't want to be a morbid vulture that waits around for celebrities to die so I can make MOCs of them, so I downplayed the tribute aspect when I put these on my website. I think I'll also go through and do some other small MOCs from pop culture that aren't memorials, which might diminish the vulture aspect. My Spidey fig has never made it into a posted MOC yet, so maybe I'll do a vignette with him.

Man, celebrities are just dropping like flies as of late. They say they always go in threes...
Anyway, I don't think it's morbid at all to do tributes like this. It may seem overwhelming to see so many MOCs of recently dead actors at one time, but if they're all dying at the same time, are you going to risk looking morbid or just ignore them? I'd choose the former.

Hmm, should I be flattered or annoyed: Image

It would be nice if they'd at least referenced me. Oh well.

Imitation is the sincerest form of annoyance.

Mighty strange coincidence, eh?

I like the forced perspective of yours, I hadn't thought of that before. Don't feel like a ghoul for making these. We have so many celebraties of so many types, that one is statistically bound to pass every several weeks. Some are better known than others. It seems to go in threes, but I watch the Oscar montage of everyone who passed in the previous years, and at least once say "he's dead!?" And I'm a pretty well informed guy. Mix them up sure, but don't stop the tributes. You don't profit financially from them and shouldn't feel guilty. Keep up the great work my friend.

I'd be annoyed, if it's any consolation, your models look much better. Seems to have more detail and it doesn't have the look of just being thrown together.

Cool Bruce, that looks awesome. I like the skyscapers alot. You did a great job giving them detail.

And don't worry about being a, whatever you are worried about being, these are just tributes to some great people.
