Our second chat with Jake McKee, a LEGO Community Development Manager, was very successful. As usual, the CC members had excellent questions. The admins and members would like to thank Jake for spending time with us on his Saturday.

I was glad to see that one of my questions had been asked, though the person who asked it may have come up with the question independently.

I didn't like his answer to the question about teen sets. "Our focus isnt teens... teens (not you but a vast majority) simply aren't buying LEGO sets." Doesn't that sound like a self-fulfilling prophecy?

Anyway, it's great that he's willing to chat with the community, even if I always miss it.

I wasn't able to attend the meeting due to unforeseen circumstances... well, actually I forgot!

Thanks for posting the transcript, its good to see all the answers Jake gave even if they were not what we might have hoped for.

[sink21] not sure what you mean by influence, but the AFOL community acceptance is growing huge every day

Hopefully one day, we will be in charge and any decisions TLC wants to make will have to come through us first!
But it really would be great if we got a little bit more of say into products, that is why chats with Jake are really good.

One of Jake's roles at TLC is as a liason to the AFOL community. He's involved in lots of ways with different community groups, helps with things like the road shows, attends the major fests, etc. Many of the great advances in recent years have grown out of a better understanding of the AFOL market and their desires (bulk bricks, S@H specials, the MOC line, expanded train line, Legends, etc.).

According to what Jake have said during previous keynote presentations, it would be a internet site where you can CAD-design your own model, and then order that model from LEGO as a set. It will be packed and sent to your address, a instant custom MOC so to speak.

Because of logistic limitations, you'll have a selected assortment of bricks to pick from, and the assortment probably will be even more limited during the startup phase.
