Fiddler On The Roof and others (three more vignettes!)

Post by Lord_Of_The_LEGO »

Hey gang!

Here's three more vignettes I churned out recently:

Dock
"Hey! There's a fee for tying up your ship at this dock!"

Exorcism Reloaded
Azezal the demon bursts forth from Radjar Kath while Lord Bjarn and the druid Bella Turnleaf look on helplessly.

Fiddler On The Roof
"If I were a rich man..."

There's more to come!

Please let me know what you think!

Very cool vigs, as always! The dock is my favorite. I don't think that guy is going to pay the fee though. :)

The fiddler one made me laugh too. Just out of curiosity, why is there a swatstika on the front of the building? I don't remember that from the movie.

Keep it up!

Umm, Nathan, did you mean to put a swastika on the building? Because The Fiddler on the Roof takes place in Czarist (Tsarist) Russia, prior to WW1, and WELL before the Nazis existed.

Or is that just a wall decoration?

OTHER than that......

Great job. The exorcism looks better, and the docking scene makes me think of Pirates of the Caribbean, not that that's a bad thing. Apart from the swastika (which I suppose may not have been intended to be a swastika...), the Fiddler is probably my favourite.

Nice work! Great idea for a fiddle, was curious what you'd use when I read the title. But as mentioned before, why is there a swastika out front?

One more question... a question mind you, not a criticism... for the exorcism vignette... is it still considered a vignette because the 2 minifigs are outside the base area? Just wondering if we could do that with the contest as well.

Why the Swastika? I saw the play and I rember, I think the czarists were the ones causing trouble.

Cool vignettes Nathan! The dock is incrediable. How did you manage to squease all that on just an 8x8.

I don't get the spirit one, have to read more roleplay.

The fiddler on the roof was pretty good. As soon as I saw it the song started in my head. I feel obliged to ask as well, why is there a swastika on the wall.

Nice Vignettes:

Exorcism - I'm not a fan of the tree, but the evil spirit is really well done.
I'll talk with the other admins, but I would say that no, vignette entries cannot have stand-alone portions seperate from the 6x6 or 8x8 baseplate. Some overhang, though, is okay (within reason, as judged by the admins) (see Lenny's post on overhang in the castle MOC foum).

Fiddler - Why is there a . . . oh, wait, that's already been asked. I especially like the way you did the chimney on the angled roof, and now the didle-deedle-didles are stuck in my head. :P

Dock - This is the standout of the group. That little boat is awesome (I could imagine a squadron of these involved in Evil Steve's Pirate Game). I'll have to borrow that design. My other favorite details are the rudder and the staircase.

Thanks for all the replies!

Regarding the swastika..oops...shows how much I remember from Fiddler On The Roof...it's been a few years since I saw the movie and I thought it was the Nazis and not the Russians who drove everyone out. My apologies. The swastika was supposed to be a subtle hint of tidings to come, but instead I showed how dense I can be... :?

Ok, here's the more accurate version:

Image

My printer simplest background I could cobble together, hence the HP logo.

I want to note that the fiddle design was not my idea, I stole the idea from Gingevere's gallery:

Stay tuned for more vignettes! (will I ever build anything else?)

Great work Nate! I love The Fiddler On the Roof. What an awesome movie, and a wonderful depiction of the changing times(not that the times changing were wonderful). And your vignette of it is great, too! Good work.

I have to commend you on these Nate. Great work.

The Exorcism vignette, taken from the Roleplay post penned from the very hand typing this post, is very much truer to the post than the original. As stated, the "pedastal" where Radjar was tied was actually a tree stump, and it is excellently portrayed here, looking especially organic and streamlined. There are some problems... at this stage in the post, Bjarn would not have taken the ceremonial sword as shown here, and the demon Aezazel would be turned towards the soon-to-be-possessed Searil Chordate, who is not included here. Otherwise, excellent.

I liked the dock moc, it looked very... how should I say... urban, in a 17th Century sort of way. Somehow it looked like the city was creeping onto the waterfront, like the building (or facade of) standing so very close to the jetty (I believe that is the proper term). I also can see a fleet of those boats in a future Brikwars match.
