Stretching your bricks?
Hi all,
Right now I'm halfway through building a gate house that is 48x64 studs, and I've run into a problem: shortage of bricks. Do you guys have any tips on building big structures with less bricks?
Thanks!

When I run into such a dilema, I usually try to add in either a scecond color as an accent (and thus stretch my bricks) or try to add an architectural feature like windows or doors that need no bricks. Of course if all else fails, a redesign to make my MOC smaller usually insues.

To add to Anthony's advice...
If there are parts of the structure that are not visible, use other coloured bricks so that you save on the usage of the prime (or even accent) colour.

What I usually do is halt construction and order more... that is if I can bear to stop and if I can afford more bricks. While building my last model, I ran out of grey 2*4's, so I ordered some 20 more bags. Then I ran out of grey 2*2's (which Shop@Home is sold out of), so I had to make my model smaller than I would have liked.

If I ever "run out" of Bricks, I simply log on to BrickLink and buy more than I need. Its always good to keep a surplus, just incase you change the design or build something else that also uses the same type of bricks.

Oh, too have that much money! If I run out of bricks (which I do quite frequently), I add an accent color. If I ever "run out" of Bricks, I simply log on to BrickLink and buy more than I need.
