Poll: Greek Helmet

Post by Red Bean »

Excluding everything elses, which cheek would your prefer? The more playable one that allows a minifig to turn it's head and wear armor? Or the more authentic-looking longer one that doesn't?

Playable:

Historical (image by TwoTonic Knight):

I will modify the helmet according to your opinions, so please help.

how about a "both" Option.
They both look really playable to me! :P
But if I had to pick, I'd go with playable, because it just looks more like LEGO. :P

I agree with Barbarian Apple.. Both. I voted for realistic, because I think it would be playable easily. And heck, they BOTH rock dude!

Well, I voted for historical, but now that I think about it, I think that the playable would be better for armor and neck reasons. Still, they both rock. :D

I chose historical... I don't really care if the minifig's head can move, because most of my figures face forward 99.9% of the time. However, if you could figure out a way to make it somewhat historical and make it compatible with armor, that would be great.

I'd vote for Playable, since you can think of it as an "Chalcidian" rather than Corinthian helmet, since the Chalcidian design has a rounded off cheek guard.
Though you might want to make that plume a bit longer.

Technically speaking, what I did is a Chalcidian, also. The cheek guard being rounded can simply be a matter of angle (what I have should look more rounded from a higher angle - you'd see it curving around the face if I had retouched the front view). What makes the difference between a Chalcidian and Corinthian is primarily the ear hole, which a Corinthian doesn't have.

I just like the name "Corinthian" better. :D

I chose playable, as most helms for a minifig would, by their very existence, be playable anyway. :D

I have to say that TTK's design is what I have always looked for. Is that a real design, or a PhotoShop modification of RB's. Either way, gotta go with it.

Photoshop. I was just going to give Red a description of my suggested modifications, but faced with actually typing them up and making them clear, I decided to just do it visually.

For myself, playability always comes before accuracy. I mean, we're here to *play* with the Lego, right?

Besides, the main thing I do with figs is 'character building' - which means I try to make individual figs that look cool, have personality, etc - and a helmet that works better with armor and can move with the figs head is much more useful than a 'static' helmet that must be worn alone and can't be moved.

However, if given all choices, I pick having them both. More choices are better than less.

I'd have to go with playable. I really like function in my LEGOs.
