Some New Fabric Stuff

Post by Lamanda2 »

Hello fellow Customizers!

In the past couple weeks, I've been working on making a couple new designs, as well as replacing some of those I had lost. Rather than posting all the individual links, I thought it'd be handy to just link to the whole Flickr set.

(Every design posted has been added to my shop as well, so feel free to stop by if you'd like (See signature for Link))

Here's one of the new cape designs:
Image

When remaking my "Straight Flag" template, I apparently messed something up somewhere along the way, resulting in a smaller version of said flag. I actually enjoy it in this size better than the last, so it's a happy mistake as far as I'm conserned! :P

These flags measure umm.. Well, they are like as tall as a minifig:
Image

Also, I figured I'd post the templates I'm working with currently, if anybody wants to play around with them or something:

-Small Straight Flag-
-Small Tattered Flag-
-Standard Cape-
-Tattered Cape-

I'd just appreciate credit if you use them (Mainly the two flag ones, since those are all-original).

Thanks! :)

Awesome job, Amanda.

Two questions:

(1) Do you plan to sell them in your BL store?

(2) Do you plan to do a Crown Knights theme soon?

I like these - they look quite nice. I think I would like the Bull head the other way up though... although I can see the use it has in it's current layout too.

The new design you made is really interesting. What was the inspiration for that?

Thanks guys.

"(1) Do you plan to sell them in your BL store?"

"(Every design posted has been added to my shop as well, so feel free to stop by if you'd like (See signature for Link))"

"(2) Do you plan to do a Crown Knights theme soon?"

Well, I had done the Crown Knight design previously, it's just a matter of remaking in now. And since I know there may be some interest in it I'll move it up my to-do list.

"I think I would like the Bull head the other way up though... although I can see the use it has in it's current layout too."

Very excellent point. Thoe next few batches of flags I print I will have the symbols facing the other way as well. :)

"The new design you made is really interesting. What was the inspiration for that?"

I'm glad you like it. Though I cannot truly take credit for it's design, as I based it largely off an image I had seen. But I did draw it a bit differently to make it look more LEGOish in design.

Wow, those new dragon designs look awesome! I love them! I shall consider getting some in the near future, don't sell out any time soon please! :D

In terms of the colours, will the red, yellow, green and black colours you use now fit in with those on my collection of capes I have already? Or are you using new inks now? For I have a fair few of your old capes and banners, and it would be nice if they fitted in. :)

The new banners are smaller you say. I guess that means they won't quite seem right if displayed next to the old ones. Ah well, I'll manage somehow, the new dragon banner designs are sweet!

Keep up your great work Amanda, I love it. :D

Glad you like the new ones. If you do want any and they are out of stock, just let me know and I can make you some more.

As for the colors, as seen in "this picture", the capes with the dragons are actually darker, and a tad more orange than say, the crusader designs.
The new printer I have shouldn't be an issue, or at least I wouldn't think so, since it's the same kind I had before. But since I had lost my files, I don't have the old colors to compare to.

However, I did find an old Dragon Master should cape, which is pretty close to the yellow capes I have now, so if you would like, I can adjust the colors on the design a bit, and print them to match your old capes better.

The new flags are smaller, as seen "here".
I haven't gotten my template right for the big ones yet, so those won't be available yet.

Now the tattered cape template I like. That could have a great variety of uses.

Nice work as always, Lamanda!

God bless.

Thank you, Voran!

Currently I've only done up one design for it (Err, two I guess), I've been slacking a bit as far as designing goes at the moment - I have a few experiments on double-sided printing I want to try out before I print anything new (If it goes like my other attempts, it will probably not work. But hey, worth a try! :P ).

Out of curiosity amanda, Do you use printer fabric, or do you use a common fabric and print onto that?

"Out of curiosity amanda, Do you use printer fabric, or do you use a common fabric and print onto that?"

I use printable fabric myself, for two main reasons:

- 1. It's super convenient (I've printed on regular fabric before, and did experience a couple printer jams.. Which was annoying)

- 2. It's also the closest thing I've found to LEGO quality. Personally, I feel it's very comparable to the official fabric, as far as quality and feel goes. It's got a really high thread count, that's for sure.

Thanks for the question. :)

Lamanda,
With your new avatar photo does this mean you might be selling clear face stickers/decals in your store or did you find some one that does?

Oh, btw, the new designs look great! You need some new dwarven cape designs as well. :D

These are really incredibly great, Amanda. If I were to ever buy any customs, these would be among them.

Thanks, guys!! :)

"With your new avatar photo does this mean you might be selling clear face stickers/decals in your store or did you find some one that does?"

Sadly, no.. I do know however, that Jared "Kaminoan" Burks (Fineclonier) does some awesome work with water-slide decals. I've ordered from him a couple times in the past, and all I have are positive reviews. I've even printed water-slide decals myself, for my own customs, and it's worked well, but Kam has the right printer for the job, which can print white and metallics, producing prime results.

The minifig in my avatar is not an actual fig I own, and was just a piece of artwork I had done, which I had fun switching the colors around and stuff (Artwork based off of this one, which is a fig I actually own).

"Oh, btw, the new designs look great! You need some new dwarven cape designs as well."

Heheh.. I think I should maybe take the hint, right?
Haven't forgotten about your previous suggestions. Perhaps I'll go scrounge around for some reference and see what I can cook up.

Thanks again!

Can you make Pauldron templates? I'm thinking of making a few customs (maybe...).

...Please?
