Drow designs

Post by Roaglaan »

Here are a couple of designs I'm working on right now. Inspiration came from reading the drizzt series of books.

first is drizzt, design based on the comic series:

* bottom of image is weird, not sure how this saved or why its there

next is a basic design for a drow warrior:

I would appreciate feedback on these as they are still wip's.

Thanks.

Without much but a general idea about the subject matter, I'd expect a bit more cliché-ed BDSM-ish, gothic designs from Drow. (Well, except for Drizzt...)
Also, don't they worship some weird spider goddess? So I'd say spider (net?)-ish design elements would be fitting.

Other than that, that's some nice and clean designs you have there. :)

Very neat looking. I had never heard there was a comic...

I have not read the books in years but Drizzt's outfit changes from the early Homelands to the latest 1000 swords or more recent. I thought he wore mail more recently. Maybe some mail (not the normal DE stuff which fell apart after he left the underground) under the gold armour?

I like the standard dark elf get up. I'd not add spider stuff to them all because other DE cities worship other things so its nice as a generic torso... and of course Drizzt would not wear anything with her relation either.

Nice work. What are you going to do with their flowing white manes?

and this is what I was thinking for the hair:

of course it would need to be painted white.

I have a female torso, inspired by the comics as well and some faces:

the faces are based off of the oriental expedition faces.

Roag,

Interesting... I think I prefer my imagination over the comic designs but cool nonetheless. I think the female DE's are a bit over the top. A type of marvel superheroine steriotype or something.

I almost think the faces need have their jaws less stepped, the gent with facial hair in particule.

The eyes and lips on the female one looks good but the males ones almost look like aliens to me.

Nice idea and work Roag! Good stuff as always!

I really like the basic Drow warrior design. (though) I think that the shoulder straps need buckles or something.

I think I like the drizzt torso but would have to see it on a minifig.

I like the Drow faces; I'd always felt that the orient adventure guards faces made great elf faces. (though) I agree especially with the last one it looks very alien.

I appreciate the feedback and agree with the faces, so I did this one:

Image

It incorporates the eyes and mouth from a voldemort face and troll eyebrows.

Why do Roaglaan's Drow smell bad? Because they have no nose.

Jokes aside, I think that's much better - the eyebrows and eye color are dead on. I'd love to see it on a minifig. :)

Roag,

That is very good! The faces in my estimation look spot on! I look forward to seeing them on a minifig. Too bad they do nto have a violet/purple head color.

Well, one way to handle it would be to take sand blue or dark bley instead. That, or framing the face with hair or armor so that it's possible to go with another head color.

I was thinking of sand blue or custom painting the head. I will have to decide how I want to do it.

As usual thanks for all the feedback, I appreciate it.

I think sand blue would look good.

The issue that I see is that I don't think that LEGO made too much white minifig hair and I couldn't find the long hair in white on brickforge. Even Gray isn't a real good option (though) the gaundauf hair might work. Tan might work but I think that more than likely you're gonna have to use a custom hair piece or paint LEGO hair.

oops, I meant brinklink. I meant official white LEGO hair; but typed the wrong thing.

That would be one of the custom options. but the official long straight LEGO hair would be ideal for drow.

This face looks very cool, so much so I'd use it if I could buy it.
