I have the same problem with BrickForges Great helms and my tip is to put the head into a lego goblet and pull it works for me.

If you are really into it you can further clean it up with some super fine sandpaper. I never did model making or Warhammer etc. but have a friend who does and he seems to be able to get the connection points to be invisible. Maybe some of the pros or semi-pros can help out with their experience?
