Whoa those are cool. Some very nice work there! The weapons there are great. While the weapons look great the lobster tail helmet is perfect. I used to restore armour, much of it was 17th century stuff and grew to really love those helmets.

Could you give me your view and experience of the 3d printer? My buddy and I have been looking into getting one. Any info you have about them would be great.

I do this service via shapeways only providing the designs. But the printers are rather costly ....

Woody,

I had never heard of shapeways so thanks for the info. The price of some of the nicer 3D printers has come down and looks like this will continue so in the not so distant future we were looking at getting one.

Thanks again!

But beware the printer needs a minimal wall size of 1mm. Also my first attempts were on older ones and the results where ugly.
What do you mean with price come down (which type and which price?)

Here's the pumpkin and the straw hat:

Woody,

When I first looked into 3D printers I found only 15-20,000 dollar units. Now there are some that are several in the 6-8,000 range that look decent. We also what found what they call a home 3D printer for 5,000 that does things up to a 5x5x inch limit. It also requires min. thickness of about 1mm if I remember right. I may go and get a demo done to see what the differences are between it and the larger older machines. http://www.desktopfactory.com/

Hope that helps.

Could I ask how shapeways does pricing. Not sure their online info has all the answers I am looking for and wanted to know what you thought of doing things there.

at

you will find more about materials and printers

A result of a $5000 printer would be very interesting ...

Wow, these are some of the best customs I've seen. I did not know that you could use 3D printers for making accessories, but I guess it does make sense.

Your lobster helm and pike are pretty cool. BTW, what is a 3d printer? I've never heard of one.
