Review of Engraved plates by Matija.

Post by CastleLord »

Hi ya'all!
Here's a small review of some engraved planks by AFOL matija Puzar.
You might remeber seeing this post by bruce: Linky
Well i managed to get my hands on four of the planks used to make this bench. And they are indeed awesome!
Here's some pics:
Pic 1: In this pic i make our two lovely ladies show us the differance between a normal Tan 1x6 and the engraved version Pic.
Pic 2: In this pic i show the differance by making them stand side by side. Pic.
Pic 3: In this pic i show you a bench made out of normal 1x6 tiles: Pic.
Pic 4: In this last pic i show you how awesome these engraved planks work for a bench:
Pic.
And i have to add as far as i know they are not for sale.

Hope you enjoyed the review.

Interesting. Has anyone had any experience engraving bricks? What kind of tools are necessary to achieve the straight lines, etc.? I've used a hand-held Dremel tool / metal engraver before, but it's very difficult to get a steady line without a jagged edge.

Amazing. I wanted some too as soon as I saw Bruce's post, but was dismayed to see that they were not for sale.

So you say that they aren't for sale, yet you have them here before our very eyes? Could you please relate to us how you were able to get your hands on them? Are the rest of us not able to do the same? Why?

Thanks,

Those look really nice, the wood grain looks pretty realistic and gives a nice touch.

I would imagine you could do it with some wood-carving tools, I have a set somewhere and one of the chisels is "V" shaped that is perfect for cutting grooves into real wood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wood_carving). I imagine with some practice, you could cut similar grooves in the tiles.
