Inspired by Dyntar's Jack Sparrow, I want to try making some custom hair for my female figs, and I wondered whether Fimo or Scupley is the best choice?
I couldn't find a topic on this already posted, but apologies in advance if it's an old subject round here for most of you!

I don't know which is right, but I do think you'll get more answers if I move this to the custom's forum. So I shall. Good luck.

Aren't Fimo and Sculpey basically the same thing?

It really depends on what type of polymer clay you prefer. They both work the same way, but some people prefer one type. I suggest buying both and deciding wich you like better. I personally recomend Sculpey, but than again, I've never used Fimo.

Thanks for saying I inspired you.
Sculpey and Fimo are similar. Sculpey is more rigid while Fimo has a bit more flexibility after cooking. I mainly use Fimo because Its easier to find in Australia.
Sculpey has the added bonus that you can use sand paper on it, if you want to get rid of rough parts. Either of them can be painted and come in a heap of colours.
The one thing that I learnt using Fimo and Sculpey is that they have a higher cooking temperature than Legos melting point. I'd suggest making small Lego sized heads out of foil. If you use Fimo or Sculpey on a Lego head it wont come off again.
