Cheap method of making molds.

Does anyone know of a cheaper method for making molds? I was thinking of making a mold out of silicone and casting pieces out of a resin, but that is just an idea. Does anyone have any others? Thanks if you helped.

P.S.-Don't bother checking out my site at the moment, since I am currently working on it. :wink:

Not sure what's your definition of 'cheap'. But depends on what you are making (mainly to do with the shape of the object), you can certainly check out vacuum forming as well:

I guess by cheap I mean under $50 USD. It may seem low, but I am just looking to make some rather simple parts.

thanx for the howto - I read some before but this is a great step-by-step tuto !

I tried some liquid latex before:
but that's not the right choise - 'cause it has to be made layer after layer - and it was not dimensionally stable !

Then I tried a copy of the "42387px1" for my daughters trainset with modelling clay and kind of resin - works fine, but that's an realy easy lego-part.

So I decided to make it with TWO PART MOLDS...
I hope I'll have time to make something about it, soon.

Its about $3.19 (Canadian) for a really small package. I think that's WAY too much. :shock:
