TwoTonic Knights and the 40 Shields

Post by TwoTonic Knight »

Or is that supposed to be Arabian Knights and Ali Baba and the 40 thieves? Whatever.

I went out searching for kite (oval) shields as sticker-fodder and the cheapest were the Islander shields. So, with 40 of these things staring bug-eyed at me, I'm curious to know if any of you actually give these as is to any of your medieval troopers? Or is there something else that you feel is even more deserving of having a sticker slapped over it (regardless of how much it actually sells for)?

I'm with you. a few islanders shields are all right for the pirate enthusiasts, but it seemed like i ended up with dozens of these things.
However.. I myself don't care for the bulls shields.THOSE were covered up right quick.

Originally, I had decided that I was going to cover up at least a portion of the bull shields with my own designs (I think they are now misplaced on the MOC and not moved over here yet), but I found that I could match the two different scale armor bull torsos with Rub'N Buff helmet colors, and now I'm kinda leaning towards keeping the originals as a color match of the armor rather than a color match of the collar.

The thing I ran out of the fastest were the Native American shields - I would have used those over the Islander (I like the less loud tan or gray for the rest of the shield) but I went with the cheapest.

I guess it depends on what colour you like. You have to remember that the entire back of the shield shows. Black is nice but pricey, white is bright but cheap, tan is kind of an 'off' colour but also fairly cheap. I found that I really liked the Falcon design on the white shield because half of the design on the front is white. The grey Bull shield works for everything and tan looks pretty good with Forestmen and Wolfpack. It's those silly purple shields that have me stymied. I guess they might look OK with the purple knight we're getting?

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

I don't really care for the Islanders shields, so I would cover them up, unless you like pirates.
