On the edge [Updated]
Well, the time has come for me to dissemble one of my creations (I've left them all together except for three until now), and I really can't decide. I am in a position where I can't buy more lego; my parents are already not too happy with the amount I have right now (although I could easily make a sixth EVER bricklink order). So the decision is among these three:
Dragon Master's Keep (I don't particularly want to because I don't need the black to build, but gray.
Crusader Keep (I am leaning towards this one but I can't bring myself to it)
Iron Guard Keep (I'm really not leaning towards this one, perhaps because I really like it)
All the other creations except the town have been dismantled. I'm leaning towards the Crusader keep also because it is under my bed rotting away; nobody gets to see it (including me) because it is too hard to move around.
Thanks for your opinion!

I would say the Dragon Masters Keep. Both the Iron Guard and the Crusader both show great things about your building technique and style.

This is something along the lines of what I was thinking when i was reading your post - better to have all the pieces you need and more, so that you have room for creative inspiration to "hit"! Sometimes that doesn't happen until you see a piece lying there in the pile as you build.architect wrote:I would dismantle all three. Use the best pieces from each to make a great new moc.
Other than that, I went with the Crusaders~

I also agree with Ben. With all 3 MOCs dismantled (and stored), your parents will not be so discouraged by your hobby. Use the parts from all to create a new masterpiece... you won't be sorry.architect wrote:I would dismantle all three. Use the best pieces from each to make a great new moc.

Hey,
As I've said before, I rarely keep anything assembled after photography. Unless you continue to use any of these either for play or display, or if you plan on attending a LUG or fest in the near future where you can show them off, I'd tear them all down. You've got a ton of bricks invested in those that would make the basis for your next great fortress.

Bruce's post reminded me of a tactic that Anthony mentioned when I was lamenting the idea of losing a MOC forever when I took it apart.
Taking good pictures with a nice digital camera, and a lot of them, makes it much easier to take the MOC apart, and even rebuild it later (if you so choose).

Very true.Taking good pictures with a nice digital camera, and a lot of them, makes it much easier to take the MOC apart
For all the large castle mocs I've built, I took at least 40+ pics per moc and made sure to get every detail and every angle, etc.
Always remember to back your pics up on a CD or storage device too!
I don't leave mocs built for long because they tend to become dust magnets and they take up valuable space in my building area.
