Congratulations and welcome to C-C. I hope you enjoy yourself here even more now that you can contribute.

As a present for your recent birthday, give me the word and I'll ban your dad from the website for a week. That should give you some leverage for something. ;)

Welcome. It's always great to see that Lego runs in the family. And it's also great to have another female on board, another bit of proof that Lego is not gender specific. Though personally I wish there more ladies my own age around here.

Hey, welcome to CC! Its nice to have those of the opposed gender join. There was a discussion at BrickWorld about why women or girls don't build or take interest in Lego as much as men or boys do. My 17 year old sister is also here on CC.

Welcome to CC! I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do. Great that Lego runs in the family. Also, happy birthday!

I think of this myself from time to time.

I guess the target audience for LEGO is with younger boys, but it's not like it really is gender-specific or anything (Minus the fact that the female population is considerably low in the world of LEGO).

The one thing I absolutely hate to see, is when I'm in the LEGO aisle, and a little girl will come up to the shelves looking over the sets with excitement, only to be told by her mother that she can't get any of those because they are "Boy's toys".. :|

Then it's off to the aisle of infinite pinkness with them.

*Sigh*

There was actually an article about this in Brickjournal's first 2008 volume. A few prominent (I'd even say famous) female AFOLs were interviewed, and were also asked why they each thought the AFOL world was more male dominated than female. It was quite an interesting read, I could scan it for ya if you don't want to pay to get Brickjournal ;)

That would really piss me off if someone said that to me! I would actually tell the mother that Lego's are for everybody. I hate todays modern society, where girls have to be one way, and boys have to be the other.

By the way, my sister is Ho Hi Ho. She isn't on much because she is in France, but I will try to convince her to show what she has built.

I guess I'm the oddball then. My bundle of pink joy gets both the LEGO's and stuff from the "aisle of infinite pinkness". She was regularly stealing her brothers Speed Racer cars until I bought a set for her.

Oh and back on topic...

Welcome to CC!
