Brickmania Instructions are now free! NOT!

Post by Dan »

Search found 7487 matches = posts since my last login!

Just stopping by to let everyone know that all of my custom kit instructions are now posted to my web site. The only catch is you have to register on the site to access them. Registration simply means you may get some future harassing emails about my books or possibly even more custom kits down the road. I'm finally getting out of the music business after 19 years and look forward to more time building/playing with The Brick once again.

Cheers!

EDITED to say my instructions are no longer free. After a rash of people bootlegging my stuff and selling it on eBay I've had to rethink my generosity.

Thanks, Dan! That's good to know. I'm glad you're going to have more time in the hobby again too.

Wow, thanks!

I have already registered and downloaded the halftrack/jeep instructions so I can try my hand at a jeep modification based on firefighting versions I saw last weekend. Yep, after the war the company tried some innovative mods to the jeeps to keep sales going and they created mini fire-engines for small towns. There were three different versions in Victoria, BC last weekend as part of a 70 vehicle celebration of fire engines from horse drawn pumpers and ladder trucks to current local equipment.

Hey Ted, good luck with the modifications. I actually have a next generation jeep model that's much better than the one in the kit. This one will be one of the featured models in my new book.

Great. You have some great models there and I think I may be able to pick up some nice techniques with the instructions.

Yeah yeah, OF COURSE I'm gonna buy the book already.

Seriously though, that looks really good. Given how long it takes me to build anything I will probably have your book before I get anywhere near a finished MOC (and I say that not knowing how long until the book comes out so you can see how slow I am.)

Hey! Great news Dan, and great to see you around! The blacksmith shop really pulled me back into LEGO and It's a pleasure to see you around again!

I'll most certainly be registering soon.

Just an FYI that I've limited the availability of free instructions to just one model per month. This is being done for two reasons: First and foremost is to conserve bandwidth as downloading high-resolution PDF files can rack up a lot of transfer mileage. The second reason is that I'm gravitating back into custom kit building and need a means to support myself while I get started up again. This is initially going to happen in the form of a premium instructions club where members will given access to one NEW set of Brickmania model instructions every month plus have unlimited access to my entire archive. The first set of NEW Brickmania instructions will be available on November 1 and I hope to have membership information available shortly before that time. For those who may want specific models in the meantime, A&M productions sells a complete DVD of my original instruction sets (and as an ISO download) for a pretty low price.

Good question. My first thought is $36 per year with a new set of instructions once per month.

The things is I have more than 12 sets of new instructions in the pipeline, plus alternative models, so I may cluster have to cluster some together. I also have that book on military models coming out so I worry about flooding the community with too much at once. It would be a nice dream to make a living from this but it's way too early to know if enough people will be interested.

This leads me to the other question people have been asking... Will it be only military models? The answer is NO and I have several Castle and even some Town models in the works. The big one to get off my chest is the modular castle wall and tower system I developed but never ahd the opportunity to bring into production. The outer wall around my Vlad's Keep kit shown below is made up of 6 pieces of my modular wall system...
