From the Land of Rimminion & Friction Fit Theater Lego C

Post by siabur »

My name is Niki and I'm a Lego addict.

I'm the official user of the cc forums from my family. My hubby signs me up then peaks over my shoulder suggesting what I should write.
I have 5 older brothers, whom were all into Lego and passed them to me when they got girlfriends and cars. So naturally, I am into Lego and cars, 53 chevy and 64 oldsmobile.

I met my hubby while in highschool when we both worked for McDonalds. I was there when they introduced the first Lego happy meals. Lego Motion. The area I was in had a scare of somekind samonilla I think. The stores cleared all inventory of everything including cases of toys. Needless to say they never made it to the trash. With the few remaining parts I had, the mcd's toys built up quite the collection of parts. Mostly these were useful for buildings. Highrises, stadiums, train stations nothing cool like space or castle.

We would look at sets but nothing was appealing to us. So we would pick up a bucket of elements for something new. Then we discovered Lego.com and bought bags of elements of stuff that we wanted. Still didn't pick up sets. That changed a few years ago when we were buying car parts and computer parts on ebay. The first set we bought was an exoforce mecha. It came with 4 minifigs as extras. Then more here and there.

With the purchase of our house paid off and cars paid off. We had the money to buy what every tickles our fancy. He likes the exoforce and city stuff, I've found the Agents to be rather cool. We both like castle.
He dabbles with a comic done with Lego. There should be something soon. It's basically about whatever comes tomind. My Agents have become his Stargate team after we built a couple simple gates and he had no idea what to do with them. Now he has a story and has actually began scripting and shooting the comic. With the previous comics being reworked, maybe there will be some.

As for castle, all that's left is the troll wheel. Thanks for listening.

Niki

Hi Niki,

Great introduction. It really made me smile. Its also nice to hear about couples being in the hobby together. My wife and I have a similar symbiotic Lego relationship. She likes the Forestmen and Pirates. I'm into everything else. :D

You really should consider raising the ante and attending a Lego convention. Brickfair is the end of the month and BrickCon is coming up at the end of October. They are a lot of fun. My wife and I are attending BrickCon this year.

Welcome to CC, I hope you enjoy your stay.

Build On!

Interesting, I don't think we've yet had a couple that are both really into Lego. To be sure we've many married people here, but so far as I can recall, it's usually just one with the other occasionally dabbing in, but not really doing any serious Legoing. It great to hear regardless. I wish you two well in your building and please, enjoy the site and all it has to offer.

Oh, and its great to see some more people who are into Stargate.

I agree, it's cool to see a couple both into Lego. My wife likes Exo-Force in the sense that she'll buy and build a set and then it just sits there and looks awesome, she doesn't build MOCs and isn't much into other themes.
Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

Hey, welcome Niki!

Being a LEGO addict as well, my wife has been amazing in terms of the 'hobby'! She likes helping me sort, and our first set together was the Cafe' Corner, and most recently the Green Grocer. The important thing for me is to join her in her hobby some times as well. I always enjoy hearing other couples building together.

Like Josh, my wife is following me to BrickCon, and I'd urge you to both come, if you can swing it financially!

Glad you've made it here, and hope to see posts often!

I have the same problem, I'm addicted to Old cars/trucks and LEGO; I'm doomed as well. With some wise budgeting you shouldn't have too many problems. Enjoy the site.

Friction Fit Theatre Release Date Announced!

Post by siabur »

I wasn't sure where would be a good place to put this so I just added to my welcome thread!
My spouse and my lego collection are currently making a comic. It's called Friction Fit Theatre. It's pretty much about a group of workers at the diner where they well, work. And anything else that could happen. There will be castles, space, agents, dragons, city, classic, whatever Lego stuff we have availible to tell a story with.

On monday 10-20-08 our Lego based comic will begin daily updates, sometime between 3 and 5 pm mountain time, 7 days a week. Just click the banner on the to get there.
