Here I am, Send me...
Hello, everybody. I finally registered this past week. Been wanting to get involved for a while, but when the last classic castle contest was going on I was in the middle of a remodeling project. Now that my LEGO room is done and I can find things, it is back to building and I'm hoping to get at least one entry up for the Job Muller's contest (I've been working on it all week).
Anyhow, I have my own website http://www.duckingham.com where I *claim* to be a LEGO freelance artist, but mainly it's just a place to post portraits and sculptures I've done, and now I'm starting to get into MOCs. And I also write articles about LEGO as a hobby. I also post things on Flickr and MOCpages sometimes, but not as faithfully as on my own site.
My "real" job is as a webmaster for a Christian textbook publishing group in South Carolina, though *webmaster* is a bit of a misnomer -- I just happen to be the guy who knew more about websites than anyone else there and I do most of the work.
I'm not sure that I ever really had a "dark age" away from LEGO ... though I did have a couple years between the time that my parents quit buying me LEGO sets and the time I was able to afford to buy them for myself.
I've been lurking around various LEGO forums that last couple years, amazed at the quality and ingenuity of a lot of builders out there, and its only recently that I've gotten up the gumption to quit "lurking" and start getting involved in the online community. So, a big "Thank You" to all the admins who put the time in every day to keep these forums running, and another "Thank You" to the rest of you AFOLs for not tossing out your LEGO when you "grew up."

Good to see you join our ranks here. And I hope to see some cool Castle MOCs coming from your hands in the future!

Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

Learning French.
Say it "ESS-MICK-GIN-ISS", with a hard "G", as in "get".
I'm a Pumpkin.

Thanks. Shortly after I posted my cookie, Nathan Sawaya posted pix of one he did about ten times the size. If only I had a few more bricks ...Voran_the_Scholar wrote:Welcome to Classic-Castle! I just browsed through the first few pages on your site and gawked at the content. I want that giant cookie.
Thank you! It's a sign that my "day-job" and my hobby are merging. Now if only I could find a way to let my hobby be my day job...but then my kids wouldn't want to go to school.smcginnis wrote:Welcome to Classic-Castle, Duckingham.

It's the normal handle I use.
I'll admit, though, to not posting much on Flickr -- I keep forgetting, since my personal site is where I do most of my stuff. On the other hand, Flickr's a good place to post stuff that other people will see...

Thanks! I thoroughly enjoyed that build and can't wait to do some more. The contest helped me figure out a direction, otherwise I sometimes just don't know what to build.Rick-Ricks wrote:Welcome to C-C, hope you enjoy your stay here. Well, I tried to combine those last two posts and delete the second one just now, but couldn't figure out how to delete. Perhaps that's reserved for admins?Bluesecrets wrote:Please edit your post when you want to add more info posting replies to individual members instead of adding a second reply.
Anyhow, I didn't realize that I was posting twice in a row. The first time I posted I was answering wunztwice, then later I saw that rick-ricks had also written, (apparently I overlooked that it was before my post, so when I replied to him, it came up consecutively with my previous post.) I usually try to be efficient, though. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?

I feel a strong forgivingness and mercy towards you.
Welcome to the forum. Your "bring out the bread" was hilarious.
Hope to see more of your creations.
