Hey all,
I was a huge LEGO fan as a kid, and with my two older brothers (and a combined effort over many birthdays/Christmases), we built quite the LEGO Town in the 80s - 90s. While Town was my #1 theme as a kid, Castle was definitely 2nd, followed by Space and then Pirates. I lost interest in Castle after ~1994, with the Dragon Masters marking what I believe to be the end of Classic Castle, however I still paid vague attention to Town until ~1998. A few years ago, my interest was reignited when I stumbled across this site, among others. Then in my early 20s, I rebuilt my old Town in a glory it had never known before and was planning grand expansion with a 50s flare (using Indy vehicles, Modular Buildings and the Town Plan) when I discovered the Medieval Market Village -- and haven't looked back since. My Town Plan still rests in its box and my formerly-rebuilt Town has been disassembled again and replaced by an ever-expanding Castle tribute, fueled by great Crownie sets and a casual appreciation for LotR. I feel mostly caught-up on the last decade+ of LEGO I missed, but still find a few surprises from time to time. My attention has also been drawn to the Prince of Persia sets -- a theme that I'm surprised hasn't received more attention on this site.
So anyway, I'm not sure how much I will contribute to this site, but it seems I have a story similar to many others out there.
See ya around!

Hi and welcome to CC.
Oh it has. But only so many of us build in the desert theme. I build almost exclusively desert castles and even if it isn't something from the desert, I still make it tan! So I have been stockpiling PoP sets like crazy. But at CC, castle tends to stick with castle. Even though some themes like PoP and even Harry Potter could be considered partially castle, they aren't. So they don't get reviewed here. They do get discussed. My attention has also been drawn to the Prince of Persia sets -- a theme that I'm surprised hasn't received more attention on this site.

Hi Davidant32,
Welcome to CC! I think you'll find that most everyone here is in total agreement on the awesomeness of the Medieval Market Village. We recently had a poll here and that was chosen as the best Castle set of all time. People have been pretty excited about the PoP sets as well. In our most recent Colossal Castle Contest (annual multi-category contest announced each year around November 1), one of our categories was Eastern Medieval Life, in part to capitalize on the growing excitement as we were anticipating the release of these sets.
Anyway, hope you enjoy your stay here. We'd love to see your LEGO creations, if you have any photos on-line.

Re: Another Introduction Thread
Many thanks for the warm welcome! There really are some interesting discussions taking place on these boards, and all the members seem so nice and encouraging. While I currently do not have many pics of my modest MOCs, and they're certainly not as impressive as some creations I've seen around here (yet!), I'm still proud of them and I'm sure it won't be too long before I start posting them. But, as I'm sure many of you know, building up a decent collection is a long, slow (not to mention expensive) process.

Hey , and welcome on CC!
I'm happy to find someone who likes LotR!
Have you build any LotR MoCs yet?
