Frankenstorm - stay warm, dry and safe

Hey all,

Many CC'ers in the eastern US are feeling the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Stay inside and stay safe. Most people's school and work are closed today in several coastal states, so it sounds like a great day to sit down and build - much better than just sitting and staring at the Weather Channel. Just for some topical inspiration, here's Blake's 'Wind' inspired by last year's Hurricane Irene:

Thanks bruce! I live in Brooklyn, so the most we are going to see are some freaking crazy winds and downed power lines. Both my sisters and their kids had to evacuate from Far Rockaway, and they are now waiting it out by our place. Great job on the home page BTW!

EDIT: Decided to take your advice Bruce:

Stay safe, everyone! :)

Living in the Northeastern part of Massachusetts, and we are experiencing a lot of downed trees and heavy rain. I even got out of school today, as a result. Tomorrow could be another day off, as parts of the town are starting to lose power. I'm not complaining.

Stay safe everyone!

Power has been on and off for me. But apparently I'm lucky because most people around me have none. High winds, trees everywhere, flooding. Lake Erie has waves up to 20 ft...oh thank you so much Sandy for ending the drought, but it has been raining since Friday...nonstop. I built...but Halloween...not hurricane inspired.

I watched a power transformer explode and burst into a huge fireball, during some serious rain. That was interesting.

Keep safe...and don't keep your computer on so it gets fried in the power surges.

Hey,

We seem to have come through pretty well here (south Jersey, near Philadelphia). Some power outages around, but we haven't had problems. The yard is a mess with lots of sticks that got blown down, plus all of the leaves and pine needles that would have come down over the next few weeks all came down in a night. I teach at a college down pretty close to Atlantic City, so I'm guessing we'll still be closed tomorrow, as there are a lot of flooded roads down that way. I hope you all are okay - it looks like the main part is in central PA right now.

Finally got my power and cable/internet back today, although we have a generator so no actual loss of power in the house. We live near Woodstock, NY and we mostly got the wind. We have 7 or 8 massive trees down (75 ft tall at least) but luckily none of them landed near the house or the driveway. I definitely spent the time building, and I hope to show everyone what I made pretty soon!
