5 yr old's Lego collection lost in fire :(

Post by AK_Brickster »

Saw this post on a friend's Facebook wall this morning:
I'm in touch with the *Smith* family who lost everything when their house burned last week. She mentioned that she needed a thermometer for sick child last night and did not have one; also mentioned pots, mixer, chopper, sugar/flour containers, rugs, art, lamps. She has two tall slim kids, age 10.5 girl and 5.5 boy.
*Mrs. Smith* also mentioned that her 5 year old son misses his Legos...

(* Names changed for privacy)
So I thought it would be really cool if somehow we could get several members of this community to send the poor little guy some Legos. I know I would have been devastated if I were in his shoes, and even a polybag or collectible minifig would probably a very welcome sight for him right now.

My friend is going to find their address for me and she's trying to find out what his preferred theme is, though I'm sure anything would put a smile on his face.

If you're interested in helping out, please PM me and I'll provide you with their address once I have it. I thought it would be cool if everything arrived within a few days of each other, so maybe we can all agree to mail stuff this weekend?

Maybe we could all put a note in the packages that say something like, "From your friend (insert username) of the classic-castle.com online Lego community", or something like that :)

Thanks guys!

Pennsylvania is where my friend is from. I'm pretty sure the family who lost the house lives there too. Will send you details once I have them. Anyone else interested?

Oh man catastrophes are always tragic and sad, good thing that nobody got hurt or worse though but I feel for the whole family when they have lost everything.
Although I live this far away I wish to help this kid out, PM me when you know more.

I would definitely be interested in helping out.

However, as you know from trades with me, outbound mail takes approximately two weeks. I'm sure he wouldn't mind receiving a little later gift, though, right?

If you could message me the details and address when you receive them, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Depending on his theme preference, I'd like to contribute. Similar thing happened to me when I was younger.

Just a quick update from my friend on Facebook regarding this family:
Just a little update on the *Smith* family who lost their house to fire...friends out west told people about it, and the kids began receiving gifts in the mail, thank you Jordan for organizing this kindness (the kids were thrilled!) Also, I contacted *the Jones* and they are going to donate household items that they need as well. Thank you for responding and helping!
Not a lot of info here, but I just wanted to let you guys know that your gifts were well-received and appreciated :D

I'll keep you all updated if I hear anything else. Thanks again for being such a great community!

Glad everything was well received by both of their kids.

I'd also like to thank you again, Jordan, for bringing this to our attention and to all of the other contributors of this exceptional community.
