NEW JOB! Possible Effects on my CC Activity
EDIT:
Well, it didn't take long once I passed my PE for it to pay off! I was contacted over the holidays by a company I've worked with in my current position and they offered me a job with them at a much better salary and much shorter commute. I've just committed to take them up on the offer after negotiating a raise for myself , so I'll be starting there in a few weeks.
I'm not sure how this will affect my current activity level of near-twenty-four-seven forum monitoring, since I will be out at job sites a lot more and less able to just pop up a browser window to check in on things.
However, with the shorter commute (15 mins instead of 1 hour), I should have more free time to build after work and will hopefully still be able to reply to people promptly either after work or via my phone.
The increased salary (34% raise!) should also enable me to feed my habit more than adequately, so I'm pretty excited!
I'll keep you all posted as to how things are going once I'm switched over. Wish me luck!

I shared this info on Flickr a few days ago, but for those of you who either don't use Flickr or don't follow me,
I found out that I passed my Civil Engineer Licensing Exam! I am now a licensed civil engineer in Washington State, and will soon have my own stamp and snazzy wall certificate.
Thanks to everyone who encouraged me while I was prepping for the test! We have such a great community here, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Re: I Passed my Exam!
Congrats! This IS a time to celebrate, My brother and his son are both graduated Mechanical Engineers, not quite the same of course but at least I have some idea of what y'all do. So, the big question is are you going to switch to "TOWN" theme?
Joking aside, nice job on passing your test. Have fun, buy more LEGO, enjoy...

Re: I Passed my Exam!
Well done!
My father is a mechanical engineer and when he was added to the rolls of the association he was given a ring supposedly made from the steel of a bridge that had failed as a reminder of his responsibilites. Do civil engineers have a similar tradition?

Re: I Passed my Exam!
Yes, they do! In fact, all engineering grads at my school received a plain stainless steel ring that is to be worn on the pinky finger of your working hand. It is stainless steel to symbolize having an untarnished professional reputation, as well as being made from a common construction material.
So, if you ever see someone sporting a plain stainless pinky ring, they are probably an engineer!

Re: I Passed my Exam!
Thanks everyone!
I will have a little more time. I need to get my desk cleaned off so that I have room to work. I have a pretty good-sized CCC entry that I will photograph once I get back from vacation a week from tomorrow
Well, it's pretty to build more than zero, which is basically where I was at while studying.Justin M wrote:Congrats Jordan. Does this mean you'll be building more?
