More things going on in my life
Hey Guys and Gals,
Just thought I'd write up a quick note about the goings on in my life.
Christina and I have come to a dead end here in Texarkana. I have been unable to find any sort of job, and the one job that Christina found was a graveyard shift paying $6 an hour. What's worse is that two weekends ago they cut her hours in half, down to 16 hours a week. This will net us, after Christina's school loan payments, $60 a month (yes, that's month, not week).
So we are turning around and running back to Houston and my parents house with our tails between our legs. We should be leaving sometime after the 3rd of April.
We weren't able to save up a lot from her job. As it is we should be able to last only about two months before we'll be flat broke.
I've extended my job seeking to once again include the entire country, we pretty desperate at the moment. Between our money troubles and our need for medical and dental insurance, we're in dire straits.
In fact the only... ONLY good result of our move back to Houston is that I'll be back with my entire LEGO collection. Frankly I'd rather spend more time away from it if it meant even a mediocre job. Yeah, it's gotten THAT bad.
In any case, in a few days I'll be closing down my BL shop for the move. I'll probably post less and less until we move, and then I'll gradually come back.
They say whenever a door is closed a window is opened, that there's a silver lining to every cloud. Well I'd love to know where they are, cause I'd love to move there. I don't see any windows or any non-dark-stormy clouds.

Man...I don't know what to say...
"Good luck" just doesn't seem to be appropiate...it's too shallow...so...
I'll be praying for you.

I am saddened by this news.
All I can say is I hope your job prospects and your financial outlook
improves as you move back to your home town. I will have you (and Christina) in my thoughts and prayers.

We appreciate the thought, but we're not a charity yet. There are a few things we can do, including using an emergancy clause in Christina's loans that allow for unemployment. The only problem is that it probably won't look too good on a credit report or in the bank's eyes.Scnicker wrote:Is there something that we could do for you? Maybe donate some money like 5 $ each person,(who have the opportunity) or something;just an idea. Well I wish you the best and I hope that your financial status will improve.

If we decide that Christina should go back to school, that will also postpone her loan payments, of course it'll also mean taking on another loan or two, and more debt.
In fact we're both thinking of going back to school. Come May it'll be three years since I gradutated college, and that's a long time to be out of the loop. More education may be my only chance to get a good job. That or digging trenches.
In any case, we'll be sure to keep everyone informed if something else happens, and especially if our situation improves.

I'm sorry if this has been stated before. What kind of work do you and/or Christina do? I'm not sure if you'd want to move to California, but if I hear of anything in your line of work I'll pass it on, and I'm sure others would be happy to do the same.
Hoping to have a witty signature and cool avatar one day.

I have a degree in Management Information Systems. Used to be known as a systems analyst, I believe. Information Technology, basically. One of the worst places to be at the moment.Drucifer wrote:I'm sorry if this has been stated before. What kind of work do you and/or Christina do? Christina's in a better place. She's got a degree in Administrative Office, which is much more marketable. She's thinking about going back and getting her Medical Office degree, which is the opposite side of the coin of her current one.
Houston's a better place for me than Texarkana, but it's one of the worst places to be for IT jobs. We just can't afford any other location until we have a reason to move.

Hey Anthoy,
I am very sorry to hear that things haven't worked out. I wish there was something I could do. I live near Seattle and there are still quite a few tech jobs around here. If I hear of something I will let you know. Is there any certain wage you need? My cousin is in IT at one of the local high schools so I know what the prevailing wage is for entry level tech jobs in Washington State. If you are interested in knowing, pm me.
Take care and I will keep you in my prayers,
Josh

This is very sad news. I'm afraid that nothing I can say will do any good. Ever since you first told us about these hard times, I have been keeping the Sava Family in my thoughts and prayers. I really wish I could help in some way.
